Explanation of Field Mobile App technician permissions in ServiceTitan

Overview

Use this guide to understand which permissions are supported for technicians using the Field Mobile App.

Note: If you don't see a Check icon for a given permission, that doesn't necessarily mean the feature itself isn't available in the Field Mobile App. It just means the permission cannot be turned on or off to change the technician experience. For example, View customer record is not a supported permission, but the feature is available. Check the comparison table here (ServiceTitan authentication required) for a more detailed breakdown of what's available.

Permissions are listed in the order they appear in ServiceTitan Settings and are grouped by the workflows they impact. If you're unsure what a permission does, hover over the permission name in ServiceTitan to see a short description.

    • Adjustable for Managed Technicians: Office administrators can enable or disable these permissions for managed technicians using the Field Mobile App. This allows you to customize your technicians' experience.

Mobile App Experience Permissions

General

These permissions affect the technician's general experience on their mobile device.

Description

Classic Mobile Experience

Allows technicians to access the legacy Technician Mobile App—ServiceTitan Mobile—on their tablets.

Note: ServiceTitan does not recommend enabling this permission alongside the (New) Field Mobile App Experience for technicians working real jobs. Allowing a technician to use both apps at the same time may cause issues.

(New) Field Mobile App Experience

Allows technicians to access the new Field Mobile App on their smartphones.

Note: This permission is required to use the remaining permissions in this section.

Create Estimate

Allows technicians to create and duplicate estimates.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Delete Estimate

Allows technicians to delete estimates.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Sell Estimate

Allows technicians to convert and sell estimates.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Add Estimate and Invoice Item

Allows technicians to add estimate and invoice items.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Edit Estimate Name And Summary

Allows technicians to edit estimate names and add or edit estimate summaries.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Generate Estimate Name and Summary with AI

Allows technicians to use Titan Intelligence (TI) to generate estimate names and summaries with selected job information.

Edit Item Details

Allows technicians to edit select item details in the Pricebook and Invoice Item view.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Edit Item Quantity

Allows technicians to edit estimate and invoice item quantities, including removing estimate and invoice items from reducing quantities.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Allow closing job without confirming findings

Allows technicians to mark jobs as Complete without being required to confirm if all equipment or location findings have been captured.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Mark Equipment As Serviced

Allows technicians to service equipment using services or materials.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

View Total Price

Allows technicians to view the total price for estimates and invoices. When this permission is turned off, it hides all total prices, including customer balance, invoice balance, and estimates total prices, however technicians can still calculate prices.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

Allow Adding Additional Services for Equipment Tasking

Allows technicians to add services and materials on the Equipment Tasking screen and Job Tasks screen for Service Agreement jobs.

Note: This permission is only available for those using the Field Mobile App.

View Historical Details

Allows technicians to view historical location and customer details such as notes, tags, jobs, recurring services, documents, and projects.

Note: View Historical Details is disabled by default. This permission is recommended for technicians who can't book jobs but still want to view historical details related to the customers and locations.

Edit Invoice Summary

Allows technicians to add and edit invoice summaries.

Edit Work Summary

Coming soon to Field Mobile App Release 19.0

Allows technicians to view and edit work summaries.

Search All Projects

Allows technicians to access the Projects screen and search for projects, regardless of whether the technician is assigned to or sold work on those projects.

Project-Associated Job Actions

Allows technicians to take actions on jobs within a visible project even if they are not directly assigned to jobs in a project. When disabled, non-assigned jobs within a project are read-only. This permission not override action-level permissions.

View My Projects

Limits project search results to only projects the technician has a direct association with—either by being assigned to a job on the project or by being the selling technician on an estimate within the project. When both Search All Projects and View My Projects are enabled, View My Projects takes precedence.

Order Measurements

Allows technicians to order roofing measurements through an integrated provider: EagleView, GAF QuickMeasure, or Hover.

View Calendar

Allows technicians to view the calendar.

Accounting Permissions

Invoices

These permissions affect the way the technician can view and edit invoices.

Set tax status by invoice item

Allows technicians to set items as taxable or nontaxable on invoices.

Edit service price

Allows technicians to edit service prices on estimates and invoices.

View material costs

Allows technicians to view the costs of materials that have been added to invoices.

View equipment costs

Allows technicians to view the costs of equipment that have been added to invoices.

Calculate prices

Allows technicians to calculate prices on estimates that use a rate sheet.

Edit payment

Allows technicians to edit existing payments on invoices.

Edit invoice tax amounts

Allows technicians to edit tax amounts on invoices.

Edit invoice tax zone

Allows technicians to change tax zones on invoices.

Invoice Summary is Required

Requires technicians to fill out an invoice summary before closing a job. The invoice summary can also be marked as Required in Job Type settings.

Customer Communications Permissions

Chat

These permissions affect the technician's ability to interact with customers through chat.

Allows technicians to view chats between customers and the office.

Note: Chats are currently read-only in the Field Mobile App.

Send emails from technician email address

Allows technicians to email estimates and invoices to customers from their work email addresses.

Job Booking & Dispatching Permissions

Dispatching

These permissions affect the technician's ability to dispatch.

Allows technicians to check themselves in or out on the Dispatch Board.

Job Management

These permissions affect the technician's ability to make changes to jobs.

Edit Project Status

Allows technicians to edit the status of a project.

Dispatch to job

Allows technicians to self dispatch to jobs.

Pause on an appointment

Allows technicians to pause jobs, previously known as Done for now.

Reschedule job

Allows technicians to schedule another appointment for themselves using the Schedule Another Appointment option during close out.

Note: When this permission is turned off, technicians can't schedule another appointment themselves.

Place job on hold

Allows technicians to mark jobs as On Hold.

Request an additional appointment for a job

Allows technicians to request an additional appointment for a job.

Book job

Allows technicians to book jobs.

Listen to call recording (mobile)

Allows technicians to listen to call recordings.

Reschedule an appointment

Allows technicians to reschedule appointments that are in Scheduled status.

Lead technician actions

Allows technicians to dispatch, arrive, send others on meal breaks, and mark others as Done.

Note: The technician must be a managed technician and this only works if all technicians are assigned to the same appointment.

Add non-job event

Allows technicians to create non-job events.

Edit non-job event

Allows technicians to edit non-job events.

Lead Generation Permissions

Estimates & Follow Ups

These permissions affect the technician's ability to work with estimates and follow ups.

Allows technicians to mark estimates as Recommended.

Access follow ups

Allows technicians to access the Follow Ups tab.

Make estimate name required

Requires technicians to name estimates on a job.

Calculate prices

Allows technicians to calculate prices on estimates or invoices that use a rate sheet.

Edit service price

Allows technicians to edit service prices on estimates and invoices.

Edit material price

Allows technicians to edit material prices on estimates and invoices.

Edit material charge

Allows technicians the ability to edit if a material is chargeable or non-chargeable on estimates and invoices.

Edit equipment price

Allows technicians to edit equipment prices on estimates and invoices.

Allow editing sold estimates

Allows technicians to edit sold estimates and change an estimate from Sold for now to Sold for later.

Print Estimate

Allows technicians to print estimates.

View/Edit Proposals

Allows technicians to view and edit proposal estimates.

Payroll & Admin Permissions

Clocking In, Scorecards, & Payroll Review

These permissions affect the technician's ability to view and perform administrative tasks.

Allow to edit timesheets

Allows technicians to edit timesheet entries with Flexible Timekeeping.

Note: When this permission is turned off, technicians can only complete required fields for open timesheets. All other fields will be grayed out.

Allow to create manual timesheets

Allows technicians to create timesheets manually with Flexible Timekeeping.

Allow clock in and out

Allows technicians to clock in and clock out for the day with Legacy Timekeeping.

View scorecard

Allows technicians to access the mobile scorecard.

View different divisions on mobile dashboard

Allows technicians to track sales, conversions, revenue, and other business metrics for different divisions on the mobile dashboard.

Manage timesheets for technicians on my jobs

Allows technicians to manage timesheets for other technicians on the same job in Flexible Timekeeping.

Note: The technician must be a managed technician, also have the Lead technician actions permission, and all technicians must be assigned to the same appointment.

View & Manage Other Technicians Timesheets

Allows technicians to view and manage timesheets for other technicians on the same job in Flexible Timekeeping.

Note: The technician must be a managed technician, also have the Lead technician actions permission, and all technicians must be assigned to the same appointment.

Edit timesheets for other technicians

Allows technicians to edit timesheets for other technicians on the same job in Flexible Timekeeping.

Note: The technician must be a managed technician, also have the Lead technician actions permission, and all technicians must be assigned to the same appointment.

Mobile Set First Timesheet Start Of Day

Automatically sets the first timesheet of the day to 8:00 AM with Flexible Timekeeping.

Allow meal breaks

Allows technicians to start and end meal breaks with Legacy Timekeeping.

Technician is able to dispute payroll

Allows technicians to dispute the payroll and leave a note.

Note: This permission requires the Enable payroll approval module in mobile permission to be turned on.

Pricebook Permissions

General Access & Editing Prices

These permissions affect the technician's ability to view and edit Pricebook items.

Allows technicians to view item prices in the pricebook and accept payments.

Note: The Don't show technician item prices option in the business unit setting overrides this permission.

Purchasing & Inventory Permissions

Purchase Orders & Shipments

These permissions affect the technician's ability to work with purchase orders (POs) and shipments.

Note: Currently, technicians can only view and receive POs in the Field Mobile App.

Allow technician to consume items not on their truck

Allows technicians to add inventory SKUs to job invoices.

Note: If the Allow technicians to consume items not on their truck permission is disabled, only inventory SKUs that are on the truck template or on the truck location can be added.

Create item request

Allows technicians to create item requests for items needed to complete work. Completed requests show in requisitions on desktop.

Create purchase order

Allows technicians to create POs without auto-receiving them.

Allow technicians to send POs of permitted PO types

Allows technicians to send POs if the PO type is permitted to be sent by technicians.

Edit purchase order in pending status

Allows technicians to edit POs in pending status.

Allow technician to receive job POs on mobile

Allows technicians to receive job POs.

Receive purchase order

Allows technicians to view the record that the shipment is received or partially received.

Purchase order receipt photo required

Requires technicians to upload photos of vendor documents on POs.

Allow a job to be completed with an open requisition

Allows technicians to complete jobs with open service requisitions.

Create returns against job POs

Allows technicians to create returns against POs associated with jobs they're assigned to.

Inventory Mobile App

These permissions affect the technician's ability to access the Inventory Mobile App.

View customer emails

Allows technicians to view email addresses tied to the customer record.

View location emails

Allows technicians to view email addresses tied to the location record.

View job notes

Allows technicians to view notes in the job history.

View customer attachments

Allows technicians to view customer attachments.

View location attachments

Allows technicians to view location attachments.

View job attachments

Allows technicians to view attachments in the job history.

View property data

Allows technicians to view property data for the location of the job. Displays the same data that's displayed on the office side.

Set notes on customer, location, or job

Allows technicians to leave notes on the customer record, location record, or job record for easy sharing of information with the office and other technicians.

Remove location equipment

Allows technicians to remove a piece of installed equipment permanently from a customer's location record.

Forms

These permissions affect the way the technician views and works with forms.

Description

Access Pricebook in mobile

Allows technicians access to Pricebook.

View history tab

Allows technicians to access previous jobs they have worked. Technicians can't dispatch and arrive to these jobs, but can take basic actions like add photos or leave notes. You can control the date range they have access to.

Upload photos and videos

Allows technicians to upload existing photos and videos from their mobile phones.

Note: Even with this permission disabled, technicians will still be able to take new photos and videos and post to the job.

Enable phone capture

Allows technicians to capture and upload photos and videos from their mobile phones. Great for technicians who work in attics, crawl spaces, chimneys, and more.

Enable visit assistant

Allows technicians to use the contactless e-sign feature for collecting signatures on estimates, invoices, and forms.

Allow uploading attachments after the job is completed or put on hold

Allows technicians to upload attachments to a job when the job is complete or on hold.

Edit Invoice Summary

Allows technicians to directly edit invoice summaries.

Atlas Platform

These permissions control access to Atlas in mobile.
