Things to know

Process payments with the BBPOS card reader

  1. Ensure your mobile device's Bluetooth is enabled and the BBPOS card reader is turned on.

  2. Navigate to the Invoice or Estimate screen and tap Pay.

  3. On the Pay screen, choose a payment type and enter the amount.

  4. Tap Use Swiper.

  5. If a pop-up opens asking you to choose whether you are using the EMV or headphone swiper, tap EMV

  6. Review the payment details. To keep the card on file, select Remember this card

  7. Tap Continue. A pop-up opens and asks you to process the charge using the EMV swiper.

  8. Follow the instructions on the screen. If the card has a chip, try the chip reader first.

Note: If multiple swipers are detected, tap the reader that matches the serial number found on the back of your BBPOS card reader.

  9. Once connected, tap Ready to swipe. The swiper initializes to prepare for the transaction.

  10. Insert the card into the chip reader. ServiceTitan Mobile automatically starts processing the transaction.

  11. After the EMV reader shows that the transaction is approved, remove the card. The confirmed amount appears. If there's a balance, it shows that too.

  12. When the payment confirmation is complete, the Credit Card Payment Authorization screen opens. This can take up to five seconds.

  13. Read and agree to the terms, then sign.

  14. After you have a signature, tap Accept. The screen shows whether the payment was approved.

  15. When finished, tap Done to return to the job.

Manually check for firmware updates

Before heading out to a job, you can check for and install new firmware updates for the EMV reader from the Technician Profile menu.

Note: Manual updates are not mandatory. The reader still searches for and installs updates when it processes payments.

  1. In the ServiceTitan mobile app, tap Technician Profile.

  2. From the slide out menu, tap EMV Reader UpdateThe Update EMV Reader pop-up opens.

  3. Once the reader has been connected, tap Update

  4. Wait for the update to finish. This can take up to 10 minutes.

Caution: Do not close the app or turn off the reader during the update.

  5. When the update is complete, tap Close. If you have other readers you want to update, tap Update Additional Readers and repeat steps 3-6.
