Overview

Create SMS content to directly connect with your customers through text messaging. They can be used to share updates, promote services, offer discounts, and remind customers about upcoming appointments. SMS content can be created for either transactional text messages or marketing messages.


Make sure you’re viewing the correct Marketing Pro content

This article is for Marketing Pro v2. If you are using Marketing Pro, see Marketing Pro for content specific to your experience.

You can check your version following these steps:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing A speaker icon representing Marketing in ServiceTitan..

  2. If the side menu under Analytics includes One-Time Campaigns and Automated Campaigns, you're using Marketing Pro v2. If these options aren't visible, you're using Marketing Pro.

Who uses this feature

Feature configuration

  • To get started with Marketing Pro, request a demo on our Pro Products page, or reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or Pro Account Manager (PAM).

Things to know

  • You must activate the Chat feature to be able to create campaigns that use SMS text messages. For more, see Set up and enable Chat.

  • You can create SMS content to send marketing or transactional text messages. These types of messages have different regulations. For more, see Understand transactional versus marketing messages.

  • Your Marketing Registration must be approved by The Campaign Registry (TCR) before you can send opt-in requests or marketing text messages to customers. For more, see Manage Marketing SMS settings.

  • Customers must explicitly opt-in to receive marketing text messages. For more, see Generate opt-in requests for marketing text messages.

  • SMS campaigns are launched the next day, at the earliest. This allows ServiceTitan time to process and queue up your text messages ahead of time, which ensures proper delivery.

Create a SMS campaign

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, go to Campaigns > Campaign Manager.

  3. On the Campaign Manager screen that opens, click Create Campaign > Pro Campaign.

  4. After you create the campaign, add the campaign goal, select the segment that will receive this campaign, and proceed to the Content section.        

    Note: When selecting a campaign goal, you can choose between transactional and marketing goals. Keep your goal in mind when creating your content. For more, see Understand transactional versus marketing messages.

  5. Click Add Content.

You're ready to add SMS content to your campaign.

Create SMS campaign content

  1. On the Content screen, click the Plus icon and select SMSUser selects SMS option from a dropdown menu in a trigger setup interface.

  2. On the Terms of Use pop-up that opens, review the terms, select I agree to the terms of use, then click ContinueTerms of Use agreement for SMS marketing campaigns with a checkbox and continue button.

  3. On the SMS # pop-up that opens, click + Add ContentUser interface for adding SMS content with options for message and time settings.

  4. Enter the SMS message you want to send to recipients of this campaign. You can click Add Merge Tag to add merge tags to your message.        

    Note: An opt-out message is automatically added to the end of each text message for compliance purposes.

  5. Select the Time of Day you want to send the message. SMS template for HVAC maintenance appointment reminder with merge tags and preview.

  6. When finished, click Save.

Send a second SMS message

Campaigns can be a single message sent repeatedly, or different messages sent on a sequential delay.

  1. To add another SMS message, click the Plus icon and select DelaySMS notification for HVAC maintenance appointment scheduling with options for communication methods.

  2. Enter the number of Days, Hours, or Minutes you want to wait before sending the next postcard for the campaign. You can add a wait time of up to 1,000 days between postcards.

  3. Click SaveSettings for automation delay, specifying days, hours, and minutes before saving.

  4. Click the Plus icon and select SMSUser selects SMS option to delay campaign for one day in the interface.

  5. Add the content for the SMS message.
