View quadrant movement in Benchmark+

Overview

The Quadrant Movement section tracks how your tenants shifted between the four performance quadrants over time. Use it to identify which tenants are improving, declining, or holding steady.


Who uses this feature

  • Business owners and company leaders

  • Primarily benefits Residential Service business types

  • Primarily benefits Plumbing, HVAC, Garage, Electrical, and Water Treatment trades

Feature configuration

  • This feature is currently in Private Preview and available for specific accounts. It is subject to change. If you want to enable this feature for your account, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

  • The View Benchmark+ permission is required to use this feature. Please contact the account administrator on your team.

Things to know

  • If a tenant has no data for the previous time period, it appears in its current quadrant in grey.

  • Click   Summarize to generate an Atlas-powered summary of the quadrant movement and tenant activity shown with your current filters.

  • Use the date range filter within each section to select a single comparison period, for example, January 2024 to January 2025. The selection applies to all charts and comparisons on the page.

Access Quadrant Movement

  1. Sign in to Enterprise Hub using your username and password.

  2. Click Benchmarks. Overview of benchmarks for analyzing key metrics and identifying improvement areas.

  3. In the side menu, in the 4-Quadrant section, go to Movement.

  4. Use the filters at the top to refine your view:        

    1. Tenants: Select one or more tenants to include. If you don't select specific tenants, the view includes all tenants you have access to.

    2. Clusters: Select a peer comparison group. By default, each tenant is compared to its own cluster. For more, see Create custom clusters in Benchmark+.

View Movement Flow Plotting

The Movement Flow Plotting section shows where each tenant was and where they moved to across the four quadrants during the selected period.

  1. Switch between tabs to change the view:        

    1. Yearly: Shows each year's position compared to the previous year. Use this for a high-level view of year-over-year trends.

    2. Quarterly: Shows each quarter's position based on year-to-date data compared to the same period the prior year. Use this to track performance as it builds through the year.

    3. Monthly: Same as Quarterly, but broken down by month. Use this to spot shorter-term shifts within the year. Movement flow plotting options for yearly, quarterly, and monthly comparisons displayed.

  2. Drag the time slider to move through periods within your date range. Colored dots show each tenant's current position. Grey dots show where they were in the previous period. 

Read the chart

  • Horizontal axis: Shows the change in market rank (percentile) from declined to improved.

  • Vertical axis: Shows the change in revenue from decline to growth.

View Individual Tenant Movements

The Individual Tenant Movements table shows how each tenant's competitive position changed during the selected period.

The table includes the following columns:

  • Name: The tenant's name. Click the name to open that tenant's details page.

  • From: A color-coded badge showing which quadrant the tenant started in at the beginning of the period.

  • To: A color-coded badge showing which quadrant the tenant ended in at the end of the period.

  • Movement: A plain-language summary of the direction of change:        

    •   Improved: Moved to a stronger competitive position. For example, from Red to Green.

    •   No change: Tenant stayed in the same quadrant.

    •   Declined: Moved to a weaker one.

  • Revenue: The percentage change in completed revenue. Positive values display in green. Negative values display in red.

  • %ile Change: The change in the tenant's revenue percentile rank between the start and end of the selected period. Positive values display in green. Negative values display in red.

Expand any tenant row to see more detail on their specific movement.

View Movement Flow Matrix

The Movement Flow Matrix shows how tenants moved between competitive quadrants from the start to the end of the selected period. Use it to quickly identify which quadrants are growing, which are losing ground, and which tenants are driving those shifts.

Note: This comparison covers only the start and end of the selected period. Intervals in between are excluded.

Each quadrant is represented by a color-coded card. The four quadrants are:

  • Green: Increased revenue and increased percentile.

  • Yellow: Increased revenue but lower percentile.

  • Red: Lower revenue and lower percentile.

  • Purple: Lower revenue but increased percentile.

Each card includes the following information:

  • Tenant count: How many tenants were in this quadrant at the start of the period and how many are there at the end. Each count is shown as a share of the total, for example, 10 at 56% → 13 at 72%.

  • Inflows: Tenants that moved into this quadrant during the period. They are grouped by the quadrant they came from, and each tenant's revenue change is shown next to their name.

  • Retention: Tenants that were already in this quadrant at the start and remained there at the end of the period.

Use the Inflow and Outflow toggle to switch perspectives:

  • Inflow: Shows which tenants entered each quadrant and where they came from.

  • Outflow: Shows which tenants left each quadrant and where they went. Movement Flow Matrix comparing inflow and outflow revenue across different periods.
