Problem
New technicians cannot add estimates or materials to invoices even though all permissions seem to be checked. The Add Estimate button may appear greyed out instead of blue.
Solution
Before you begin, confirm that you are working in the Next environment, as this guide focuses specifically on permission within this environment. Then, follow the workflow below to check and update the permissions needed for a technician to add estimates or materials to invoices.
Workflow to resolution
Check the technician's status on the job. Make sure the technician is dispatched and has arrived at the job. This step is crucial before trying to add estimates or materials.
Schedule a test job in the Next environment. This helps determine if the issue is job-specific or a broader permission issue.
Go to the navigation bar and click Schedule.
Click Add Job and fill in the necessary details to create a test job.
Assign the test job to the technician that is having the issue.
Check the technician's permissions in the Next environment.
Access your Next account from the office side of ServiceTitan.
Go to Settings > People > Employees > Permissions.
Look for the technician's profile and review the permissions related to adding estimates and materials to invoices.
Ensure that all relevant permissions are enabled. If any permissions are missing or unchecked, check them to grant access.
Retry adding estimates or materials from the technician's profile.
Have the technician log into the ServiceTitan mobile app.
Navigate to the test job created earlier.
Try to add an estimate or material to the invoice again. The Add Estimate button should now be blue and active.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue of new technicians being unable to add estimates or materials to invoices in the Next environment.
