This new feature gives administrators control over when technicians can access and fill out current job forms in the Field Mobile App, so form data is captured after dispatch.

What's new?
Previously, technicians could open the Forms tab and fill out current job forms while a job was still scheduled, paused, or on hold, before they were dispatched. With the new Edit Current Job Forms After Dispatch permission turned on, current job forms stay hidden in the Forms tab until the technician is dispatched to the job, and any Spec-Based Estimate Template (SBET) form linked to the estimates tab will not be editable until dispatch. After the technician is dispatched, by themselves or from the office, all current job forms appear right away and become editable, with no need to reload. Technician forms, forms in the opportunity module, service agreement forms on the job, equipment forms, location documents, and previous forms are not affected, and forms on completed or cancelled jobs stay available.

Open the Field Mobile App and select a scheduled job you have not been dispatched to.

How it works for your industry
Residential Service and Replacement
A residential service company turns on the permission so a technician scheduled for an afternoon water heater call cannot start the current job forms until they are dispatched and on site, keeping the readings tied to the real visit.
A dispatcher moves a technician from a paused job to a new scheduled job. The technician sees the Forms tab message until they are dispatched, and then the current job forms open right away.
A service manager reviewing submitted forms can trust that each current job form was filled out after dispatch, so the recorded conditions match the actual appointment.
Roofing and Exteriors
A roofing company aligns the Field Mobile App with how the office expects crews to work, so a crew member scheduled for a roof inspection cannot complete the inspection form until they are dispatched to that job.
A roofing technician opens a linked SBET form from the Estimates tab before dispatch and sees the fields turned off with a banner, which prevents measurements from being recorded before the crew reaches the property.
After a roofing crew is dispatched to a tear-off job, all current job forms appear right away in the Forms tab, so the crew can record materials and conditions while on the roof.
How to prepare
Review the new Edit Current Job Forms After Dispatch permission. It is a new permission and controls whether mobile users can access and fill out current job forms before they are dispatched to the job. It is off by default for managed technicians, managed installers, and non-managed technicians. Turn it on for the roles that should access current job forms only after dispatch, in your role permission settings.
Identify the roles and trades, such as roofing, where form completion should happen only after dispatch, and align your team on the change.
Train technicians on the new behavior so they know current job forms appear after they are dispatched.
