This new feature enables technicians and foremen to record staged, partial inventory consumption for Transfer to Jobs (TTJ) items directly in the Field Mobile App, keeping job costs and inventory counts accurate throughout multi-day jobs.

What's new?
Previously, inventory consumption tied to Transfer to Jobs (TTJ) items was recorded only at job close, as a single all-or-nothing entry. On multi-day commercial and construction jobs, this created a gap between when materials were actually used and when costs appeared in ServiceTitan — making mid-job reviews unreliable and forcing warehouse teams to plan replenishment based on outdated data. Technicians and foremen can now record partial or full material usage directly from the Field Mobile App as work progresses. Each consumption entry immediately updates the invoice and inventory counts, and a per-transfer consumption history provides an Audit Trail of who recorded each entry, when, and how much.

Before and After
Before (Current)
The office creates a Transfer to Jobs linked to a job and marks items as picked.
Materials are used throughout the multi-day job, but consumption cannot be recorded until job close.
At job close, the technician or foreman enters all consumed items at once, regardless of when they were used.
Job costs and inventory counts update in a single spike at closeout.
Costs reflect actual material usage only after the job is complete.
Impact: Mid-job cost reviews are unreliable, and the warehouse plans replenishment based on stale data.
After
With Transfer to Jobs inventory consumption enabled, a Consumption tab appears on the Job screen in the Field Mobile App.
Open a Transfer to Jobs item, enter the quantity consumed, and submit.
The invoice and inventory counts update immediately to reflect the consumption.
For serialized or lot-tracked items, select the required serial or lot number before submitting.
At job close, a reminder surfaces if any Transfer to Jobs items have remaining quantities. Resolve each item or proceed to close the job.
Impact: Job costs and inventory counts reflect real material usage throughout the job, giving your team accurate data for mid-job cost reviews and replenishment planning.

How it works for your industry
Commercial Construction
A foreman on a multi-week commercial renovation uses 6 of 20 copper fittings from a Transfer to Jobs. They open the Consumption tab in the Field Mobile App, enter the quantity used, and submit. The invoice and inventory levels update right away, without waiting for job close.
A project manager reviews mid-job costs at the end of each week. With consumption recorded as materials are used, cost data reflects actual spend and overruns can be caught before closeout.
A technician installs a serialized control valve on a multi-day HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) installation. The Field Mobile App requires them to select the serial number before the consumption can be submitted, keeping asset records accurate for warranty tracking.
Commercial Service & Replacement
A technician replacing commercial equipment uses parts from a Transfer to Jobs and records each item as it is installed, rather than entering everything at job close. The office can see accurate material costs in real time.
When the job is ready to close, a soft reminder flags any Transfer to Jobs items with remaining quantities. The technician can return unused parts to the warehouse directly from the Field Mobile App.
A service manager reviews the consumption history after a multi-day repair job. The log shows which technician recorded each entry and when, making it straightforward to reconcile invoices and support billing accuracy.
How to prepare
Have an administrator reach out to Support or your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to have Transfer to Jobs inventory consumption and any prerequisite configurations enabled.
Confirm that Purchasing and Inventory is enabled for your company and that inventory items are set to track quantities.
Identify which crews work on multi-day jobs where staged consumption would improve cost visibility, and plan training on the new Consumption tab in the Field Mobile App.
Align with your office team on how remaining Transfer to Jobs quantities will be handled at job close — consumed, returned to the warehouse, or rolled to a new transfer.
