Capture Right to Cancel signatures in the Field Mobile App

This new feature lets technicians capture the Right to Cancel and Technician Acknowledgement signatures in the Field Mobile App and produce a compliant invoice, so regulated home improvement jobs meet cancellation disclosure requirements without pulling technicians out of their normal flow.

What's new

Previously, technicians in the Field Mobile App had no step for collecting the Right to Cancel signature or the Technician Acknowledgement signature, so companies could not produce a compliant invoice from the field. Offices had to chase a paper signature after the visit, or the job closed without the required disclosure. Now, after your account is configured, both signatures are collected in the existing estimate signing flow in a fixed order, the estimate cannot convert to a job until the Technician Acknowledgement is captured, and the invoice generated through the Document Template Engine (DTE) includes the required disclosures when it is emailed, presented, or printed.

Workflow comparison — before & after

← Before
✓ After
1.A technician opens an estimate for a home improvement job in the Field Mobile App.
1.An administrator sets the Right to Cancel paragraph and the contractor license board disclosure in your Business Unit settings.
2.The technician collects the available authorization signature, and no Right to Cancel or Technician Acknowledgement step appears.
2.A technician presents the estimate in the Field Mobile App and moves through the required signature sequence: authorization or acknowledgement, then Right to Cancel, then Technician Acknowledgement.
3.The technician converts the estimate to a job and completes the work.
3.The technician cannot skip a step, and the estimate cannot convert to a job until the Technician Acknowledgement is captured.
4.The invoice generated from the field is missing the cancellation and licensing disclosures the job requires.
4.The technician generates the invoice and shares, presents, or prints it with the required disclosures included.
⚠ Your office chases a paper signature after the visit, or the job closes without the required disclosure, which creates legal exposure and rework.
✓ Required signatures are collected at the right moment in the visit, so your jobs produce a compliant invoice without adding office follow-up or extending time on site.

How it works for your industry

Residential Construction
  • A remodeling contractor sells a bathroom renovation at the homeowner's kitchen table. The technician captures the Right to Cancel signature on the estimate before the crew is scheduled.
  • A general contractor converts a signed estimate into a project job. The conversion is held until the selling technician adds the Technician Acknowledgement, so the file is complete before mobilization.
  • A design build firm prints the invoice on site at closeout. The printed copy carries the contractor license board disclosure pulled from the Business Unit settings.
Residential Service and Replacement
  • A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technician sells a system replacement during a service call. Both required signatures are captured before leaving the driveway.
  • A plumbing company emails the invoice to the homeowner after a repipe. The emailed document includes the required disclosures automatically.
  • An electrical service technician working offline in a rural area captures both signatures, and the signing timestamps sync when the device reconnects.

How to prepare

01
Have an administrator reach out to Support or your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to have compliant invoicing and any prerequisite configurations enabled.
02
Confirm the Right to Cancel paragraph in your Business Unit settings contains the statutory wording required in the states where you sell, and confirm your contractor license details are populated for each Business Unit that needs them.
03
Identify which of your Business Units and job types sell in the customer's home, and review the signature requirements set on those job types so the right signatures are enforced at job completion.
04
Train your technicians on the signature order they will see when presenting an estimate, and let them know the estimate will not convert to a job until every required signature is captured.
