Set up the Bluetooth BBPOS Chipper 2X BT credit card reader with your mobile device to process card payments in ServiceTitan Mobile. The BBPOS card reader increases security by using chip card encryption and enabling contactless tap-to-pay card payments.
Note: If your credit card reader is already set up then you are ready to process payments. For details, see Process credit card payments in ServiceTitan Mobile with the BBPOS credit card reader.
Things to know
To increase payment success, use the chip card reader on the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT for all your credit card transactions. Try swiping the magnetic stripe through the reader only.
If you have previously paired a BBPOS Chipper 2X BT to your mobile device, it automatically reconnects if it’s the only reader in range.
To connect to the correct device, check the serial number of the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT on the back of the device.
Make sure to set auto-lock to Never in your device settings to prevent the device from going to sleep. If this is not done, the device can go to sleep and interrupt the initial pairing. Note: If you have installed Mobile Device Management (MDM) software, it can prevent users from setting auto-lock to Never. In this case, it should be set to the longest time that's allowed. When running the update, tap the screen periodically to prevent the device from sleeping.
The firmware update can take 15 minutes or longer. The indicator light will turn and remain solid white until the update is complete.
Connect the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT to your device
Before using the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT, make sure you’re on the latest version of the ServiceTitan mobile app for Apple iOS or Android devices.
Apple and Android devices pair differently:
Apple devices pair using the ServiceTitan mobile app—not in your Apple device settings.
Android devices pair through the device’s Settings menu.
Tip: Check your device maker’s Help documentation for details on how to do this. The first time you connect your mobile device to the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT by tapping Use Swiper, it starts a configuration sequence, which can take up to five minutes. To account for this delay, you should connect your mobile device to the card reader before taking it out on a job.
