Can't edit an existing membership sale task

What you're seeing

You have a membership sale task already set up, and you need to change something about it, such as the price, the name, the item description, or commission. You are not sure where to make the edit, whether it is even possible, or how to review the task before changing it. The edit might be for one sale task or for many at once.

Why this happens

Reason

This is not a system error — sale tasks are fully editable.

There are three places to edit them, and which one to use depends on your situation:

  • You are changing a single sale task and want the most direct path.

  • You are working from the membership side and want to edit the sale task attached to a specific membership type.

  • You need to change many sale tasks at once and want to do it in bulk.

Note: Each sale task is tied to a single membership type, and that membership link appears on the task's Workflow tab (it populates from the task's association). You can edit the task's own details freely, but changing which membership a task sells is not a simple field edit and usually means using a different or new task.

Before you start

You need Pricebook permissions to change sale tasks. If you do not have it, contact your admin.

A membership sale task is a Pricebook service item, so all edits happen in Pricebook or in the membership type that the task is attached to.

How to fix it

Pick the path that fits. Check 1 is the most direct for a single task.

1Edit a single sale task in Pricebook

Use this if you are changing a single sale task and want the most direct path.

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook > Services.

  2. Search for the sale task.

  3. Open the sale task and make your changes. The task's own details (price, name, item description, commission, GL account) are on its tabs; membership-specific settings such as duration and the linked membership appear on the Workflow tab.

  4. Click Save.

✓ Done · If the sale task now shows your updated details, you're done.

2If you're working from the membership side, edit the task through its membership type

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Settings > Invoicing > Membership Types.

  2. Click Edit on the membership type that the sale task is attached to. The membership guided workflow opens.

  3. Click Billing, then click New Sale Tasks (or Renewal Tasks for a renewal task).

  4. Open the task and make your changes.

  5. Click Save.

✓ Done · If the sale task tied to that membership type shows your updated details, you're done.

3If you need to change many sale tasks at once, edit them in bulk

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook > Import/Export.

  2. Select the Export tab and export your pricebook to MS Excel.

  3. In MS Excel, review and edit the sale tasks as needed.

  4. Import the updated pricebook back into ServiceTitan.

✓ Done · If the imported pricebook reflects your changes across all the sale tasks you edited, you're done.
