Best practices
To prepare, connect your card reader in advance, otherwise you'll have to do it while accepting your first payment. For pairing steps, see Pair an Adyen, BBPOS, or ID TECH credit card reader with the ServiceTitan Field Mobile App.
After downloading the Field Mobile App, select Allow for bluetooth permission so you can pair and use card readers.

To ensure more successful payments, use the chip reader on your card reader for all credit card transactions.
Tip: If the reader has trouble scanning the chip, try swiping the magnetic stripe through the reader instead.
Step 1: Check for card reader firmware updates in the Field Mobile App
Before heading out to a job, check for and install new firmware updates for the card reader from the Field Mobile App. Be aware that this is not the same as performing a Field Mobile App update.
Note: Firmware updates are only needed if they're available. Make sure to update the firmware by the required date.
Make sure your card reader is turned on and nearby.
Open your iOS or Android device settings and make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Open the Field Mobile App and tap Menu
> Card Reader Management. On the Card Reader Management screen that opens, select your connected card reader.

On the screen that opens, tap Update firmware.

Wait for the update to finish. This can take up to 10 minutes.
Note: Do not close the app or turn off the card reader during the update.

When the update is complete, you can exit the screen.
If you have other card readers you want to update, repeat these steps.
(Optional) Step 2: Check for card reader configuration updates in the Field Mobile App
Manual configuration updates are not mandatory. The card reader still searches for and installs updates when it processes payments. If needed, however, you can manually update the configuration.
Note: This is not the same as performing a Field Mobile App update.
On the Card Reader Management screen, select your connected card reader.
On the screen that opens, tap Update configuration.

Wait for the update to finish. This can take up to 10 minutes.
Note: Do not close the app or turn off the card reader during the update.

When the update is complete, you can exit the screen.
If you have other card readers you want to update, repeat these steps.
