Overview

Set up the Adyen NYC1 credit card reader with your mobile device to process card payments in ServiceTitan Mobile. With a quick barcode connection, a long-lasting battery, and Tap-to-Pay functionality, collecting payments is more efficient than ever.

Note: If your credit card reader is already set up, you are ready to process payments.

Things to know

  • If you have previously paired an Adyen NYC1 credit card reader to your mobile device, it automatically reconnects if it's the only reader in range.

  • To connect to the correct card reader, check the serial number on the back of the Adyen NYC1 card reader.

  • Before pairing, ensure you're on the latest version of the ServiceTitan Mobile app and on the latest version of your mobile device's operating system.

Adyen NYC1 card reader overview

To start accepting payments with the Adyen NYC1 reader:

  1. Update the ServiceTitan mobile app.

  2. Remove the Adyen NYC1 card reader from its packaging.

  3. Charge the card reader with the included USB-C charging cable.

  4. Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device.

  5. Turn on the card reader.

  6. Go to Manage Card Readers in the ServiceTitan mobile app.

  7. Pair the card reader.

  8. You're now ready to accept payments!

First time payment delay

Before using the Adyen NYC1 credit card reader, make sure you're on the latest version of the ServiceTitan mobile app for your mobile device.

When connecting your mobile device to the card reader for the first time and you tap Invoice > Pay, the system initiates a configuration sequence that may last for up to five minutes. To account for this delay, we recommend you connect your mobile device to the credit card reader before taking it out on a job.

Pair your iOS device with the Adyen NYC1 card reader with a barcode

If you have an iOS mobile device, you can use its camera to scan the barcode on the other side of the Adyen NYC1 card reader to pair it to your mobile device.

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device.

  2. Turn on the card reader.

  3. In the ServiceTitan mobile app, tap Technician Profile

  4. Tap Manage Card Readers

  5. Open the camera on your iOS mobile device and scan the barcode on the other side of the card reader.

  6. If prompted, allow the ServiceTitan mobile app use of your camera.

Pair your mobile device with the Adyen NYC1 credit card reader

Complete these steps only once for each reader connected to a mobile device.

To pair your mobile device with the card reader for the first time:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device.

  2. Turn on the Adyen NYC1 card reader.

  3. In the ServiceTitan mobile app, tap Technician Profile

  4. Tap Manage Card Readers

  5. Tap Add. 

  6. Select the reader you'd like to pair. Make sure the serial number matches the one on the back of the reader. 

  7. Double click the button on the side of your reader to confirm pairing. 

  8. When finished, tap Continue

Manually check for firmware updates

Before heading out to a job, you can check for and install new firmware updates for the EMV reader from the Technician Profile menu. Be aware, that this is not the same as performing a ServiceTitan mobile app update.

Note: Manual updates are not mandatory. The reader still searches for and installs updates when it processes payments.

  1. In the ServiceTitan mobile app, tap Technician Profile

  2. From the slide-out menu, tap EMV Reader Update

  3. On the Update EMV Reader pop-up opens, tap Update once the reader has been connected. 

  4. Wait for the update to finish. This can take up to 10 minutes.        

    Caution: Do not close the app or turn off the reader during the update.

  5. When the update is complete, tap Close.

  6. If you have other readers you want to update, tap Update Additional Readers and repeat steps 3-5.
