Overview
Use skills to customize a list of specific skills that apply to your business. You can then assign these skills to applicable job types and technicians so your technicians are only assigned to jobs they have the necessary skills to complete. This helps you provide a more consistent and quality experience for your customers, while decreasing callbacks.

Things to know
Skills are shown on the Dispatch Board when you hover over a technician's name on the left. When you Assign/Reassign appointments on the Dispatch Board, the list of technicians shown is organized by skills. Everyone with the full set of required skills is grouped at the top of the list.

When you book a job, the skills that apply to it match the skills assigned to that Job Type at the time of booking. Any changes you make to the skills associated with a job type don't change the skills assigned to jobs booked before you made those changes.
If you change a job type, the old skills for the job type are removed, and the skills for the new job type are applied.
If you book a job with a technician who doesn't have the right skills for it, you're notified about the skills gap when you try to book the job. Also, if you try to assign a technician to a job but that technician doesn't have the correct skills, you'll be alerted about the skills gap. This applies regardless of how you book the job or assign the technician.
You can manually add and remove specific skills on specific jobs. Go to the job, click the Edit pencil, click the Skills dropdown, and add or remove the skills you want the job to require.
