Why is the Select Existing Job button missing when adding estimate items to an existing job?

Problem

The Select Existing Job button may not appear if:

  1. The Sold By credit on the estimate does not match the Sold By credit on the job.

  2. The job that the estimate items were created for and the job you are trying to add estimate items to aren't in the same project.

Solution

Follow the steps below to make the Select Existing Job button appear.

Make the Select Existing Job button appear

  1. Check the Sold By credit on both the estimate and the job. They must be the same person.

Note: The Sold By on the job can be null. If it's null, adding the estimate item updates the Sold By to the technician who sold the estimate.

    1. Go to the estimate details page.

    2. Look for the Sold By field.

    3. Note the name.

    4. Go to the job details page.

    5. Check the Sold By field. It should match the name on the estimate.

  2. Ensure both the estimate and the job are in the same project.

    1. Go to the project page where the job is listed.

    2. Check if the estimate is listed under the same project. If not, you need to add it.

    3. To add an estimate to a project, go to the estimate details page.

    4. Find the option to Add to Project or Change Project.

    5. Select the project that the job is part of.

Note: The job should be in the Pending status.

By making sure the Sold By credit matches and both the estimate and job are in the same project, the Select Existing Job button should now appear. This allows you to add estimate items to the job successfully.
