Control recording permissions with Technician Recording

Prev Next

This improvement gives Administrators the ability to restrict stop, pause, and delete controls for service calls from field technicians.

What's changing with Technician Recording?

When a technician is on-site at a job, they may need to record the service call—but you might not want them to have full control. Technician Recording restricts which recording controls a technician can use based on your permissions. This way, field technicians can record service calls for training or quality assurance without being able to stop, pause, or delete the recording.

Before and After

Before (Current)

When a technician clicks the camera icon to start recording in Field Pro, they have all recording controls (start, stop, pause, delete).

After

With Technician Recording, you can restrict which recording controls appear to the technician. For example, you could allow recordings to start but disable the delete button so that recordings can't be removed.

Who uses this feature

  • All business types

  • Administrators

  • Technicians

  • Region availability: All regions

How it works for your industry

Residential Service and Replacement

  • A residential HVAC company wants to record service calls for training purposes. With Technician Recording, managers can disable the delete and pause buttons so technicians can only start and stop recordings.

  • This ensures technicians capture complete, unedited service calls for quality assurance and training.

Commercial Service and Replacement

  • A large commercial HVAC contractor manages 200+ technicians across multiple regions. Technician Recording allows administrators to enforce consistent recording policies without having to monitor each technician manually.

  • The ability to restrict controls means recordings can be preserved for compliance and training purposes.

Residential Construction

  • A residential construction company records site walkthroughs and inspections. Technician Recording ensures that technicians can't delete recordings during a project.

Commercial Construction

  • A large commercial construction firm records contract walk-throughs and inspections. Technician Recording protects these recordings from accidental or intentional deletion by field staff.

How to Prepare

  1. Review which recording controls you want to allow technicians to use.

  2. Contact your ServiceTitan support team to configure Technician Recording permissions.

  3. Train technicians on the recording controls available to them.
