Overview
Coming soon to Field Mobile App Release 23.0
After your office sets up Sales Margin Control, estimate margins are checked against the global or role-based minimums when you work with estimates in the Field Mobile App. This helps you prevent applying discounts that cut into profit at the point of sale.
Important: This article describes the new Sales Margin Control experience available through Early Access. Until your office enables this experience for the Field Mobile App:
Technicians see only warning thresholds; minimum-margin rules do not block estimates.
Office admins should not modify existing role-based rules.
Any new rules your office creates will not appear in the Field Mobile App.
If your office hasn’t enabled the new experience, see this article for information about the current experience.

Things to know
Margin calculation only takes into account the specific estimate's total cost and total price. It excludes commissions and bonuses.
Margin requirements can vary based on your role, business unit, and job type, so you may see a different warning—or no warning at all—than another technician. For more, see Sales Margin Control.
Note: This update is in Early Access and not yet available to all accounts.
Margin enforcement requires an internet connection. When you're online, ServiceTitan checks the estimate's margin and may display a warning or prevent you from presenting, emailing, or texting the estimate. When you're offline, estimates subject to margin enforcement display Pricing not validated, but you can continue selling. ServiceTitan checks the margin after you reconnect. Printing remains available.
Use cases
Residential Service and Replacement:
HVAC Proposals: When building a furnace replacement with accessories, the app flags your estimate if a discount drops the margin too low. It shows you the exact dollar shortfall so you can adjust the scope or price before the homeowner sees it.
Plumbing Repairs: If a courtesy discount on a repair job triggers a margin warning, you can tweak the pricing on-site to keep the job profitable.
Multi-Option Sales: During a comfort consultation, the Review Estimates modal automatically selects compliant options and warns you about low-margin ones, helping you present the best choices first.
Commercial Service and Replacement:
Rooftop Units: On-site estimates for retail centers are automatically checked against commercial margin policies, prompting you to fix pricing before sending the quote to the facilities manager.
Negotiated Repairs: When applying discounts for office building repairs, the app shows the exact dollar amount needed to stay within policy, giving you clear guardrails during negotiations.
Maintenance Accounts: For multi-location clients, the Review Estimates modal highlights non-compliant quotes, making low-margin bids a conscious exception rather than an accident.
Residential Construction:
Fixture Upgrades: When creating change orders for new builds, the app ensures fixture upgrades don't undercut the project's profit targets.
Late-Job Extras: If framing or electrical extras drop below the minimum margin, a warning icon appears that you can tap to see the required dollar adjustment so you can fix it before sending it to the rep.
Volume Builds: Use the Review Estimates modal to quickly identify and send compliant change orders, keeping small additions on track.
Commercial Construction:
Tenant Improvements: As you add lighting or controls to a change order, the app flags low-margin items before they reach the property manager.
Mid-Project Upgrades: If you're tempted to discount large equipment to keep a schedule moving, the warning icon you tap gives you a clear target price to discuss with your project manager (PM).
Design-Build Revisions: For jobs with frequent revisions, the Review Estimates modal highlights non-compliant change orders, keeping complex projects aligned with your margin goals.
Use Sales Margin Control when creating or editing estimates in the Field Mobile App
Open your job and tap Estimates.
ServiceTitan calculates the margin and checks it against those limits.
Depending on the result:
No warning (margin meets or exceeds the threshold): No message appears. You can proceed as normal.
Soft block (margin falls between the warning threshold and the minimum): A yellow warning icon appears. Tap the warning icon to see the full banner message with the dollar shortfall. You can still proceed with the sale.

Hard block (margin falls below the minimum): A red blocking message appears with the dollar amount needed to reach the required margin. You cannot email or sell the estimate until you adjust pricing. You can still print it.

The full banner message shows the dollar amount needed to reach the required margin. Tap Edit Items to correct the pricing.
On the estimate that opens, the warning is shown again. You can tap View to edit the estimate items until the required margin is reached.
Note: You are not blocked from selling an estimate if its low margin. However, we recommend that you align with your team as to how you should proceed with low margin estimates.
Use Sales Margin Control when sharing or presenting estimates in the Field Mobile App
When you share or present estimates, the Review Estimates modal highlights non-compliant estimates, pre-selects compliant ones, and requires an explicit choice to send any non-compliant estimate.
Sharing estimates
Open your job and tap Estimates.
Tap an estimate to open it.
On the estimate that opens, tap the Share icon at the top.
On the next screen, tap Email or Text message.
The Review Estimates modal appears whenever at least one estimate on the job is non-compliant. It lists every estimate for the job, including any that are fully compliant.
You have three options:
Tap Expand to open the non-compliant estimate and edit the estimate items until the required margin is reached.
Tap Share Remaining to share only the fully compliant estimates those that are neither soft blocked nor hard blocked.
Tap Continue with All. This shares every compliant and soft-blocked estimate. Hard-blocked estimates are excluded from this option and can't be shared until they meet the required margin.

Presenting estimates
Open your job and tap Estimates.
On the screen that opens, tap Present Proposal.
