Create item groups on estimate templatesLast updated on 04/18/2022

You can create item groups on estimate templates, which allows your technicians to offer complex packages as a single line item without having to spend the time building them while on a job.

Things to know

  • Item groups appear as a single line item only on customer-facing estimates and invoices. Individual items within a group are visible from the office and when running reports.

  • Creating item groups on estimate templates does not create new items in your pricebook

  • When presenting estimates in ServiceTitan Mobile, technicians can edit items in an item group. These changes are not saved to the estimate template.

Create an item group

  1. Follow the steps to create or edit an estimate template.

  2. From the Edit Estimate Template screen, click + Item Group.

The Create Item Group pop-up opens.

  3. Under Parent Item Type, select whether you want to build an item group based on a service or equipment item.

  4. Use the Select Parent Item search field to find the item you want as the parent item. You can search by item code, name, or description. Note: The parent item description is listed as the single line item for the item group.

  5. To create a name for the item group, enter it in the Name field. Otherwise, the estimate template uses the parent item name.

  6. When you’re done, click Create.

The newly created item group appears in its own section on the estimate template.

Edit sub-items in an item group

After you create an item group, you can add and remove sub-items:

  1. Find the item group you want to edit on the Edit Estimate Template screen.

  2. Click Add Service or Add Equipment to add a sub-item. Note: The price of the item group adjusts automatically by the price of the sub-item.

  3. Use the search field to find the sub-item you want to add. You can search by item code, name, or description.

  4. Edit the sub-item as needed:

    • Use the QTY field to adjust the item quantity.

    • Enable the Is Add On? toggle to apply the add-on item price.

    • Click the Trash icon to delete the item.

Note: You cannot delete the parent item from an item group.

  5. When you’re done, click Save Template.
