The following permissions are required to use this feature. Please contact your office for details.
You need at least one of these to search:
Search & View My Jobs
Search & View All Jobs
Search & View My Projects
Search & View All Projects
Search & View Customers & Locations
Take Action on Searched Jobs & Equipment
Note: When you search for customers and locations, your existing technician permissions configured in the office under Settings
> People > Technicians > Permissions > Customer Details also apply.
Things to know
Search works only when your device is online.
The results you see and the filters available to you depend on the permissions your office turns on for your role.
A job assigned to someone else opens as a read-only details screen unless your role has the Take Action on Searched Jobs & Equipment permission.
What you can see on a job, customer or location records still follows your existing permissions.
Best practices
Search while you have a signal, because search works online only.
Use filters to narrow a long list of results before you open a job.
Before you cover a teammate's job, confirm with your office that your role has Take Action on Searched Jobs & Equipment.
Add a note when you act on a teammate's job, so the next person has context.
Use cases
A technician finishing a tune-up gets a question about the homeowner's last repair. They search the address and review the job history.
A senior technician covers a sick teammate's last call. They search the job number, open the job, add notes, and mark it complete.
A field supervisor gets a call from a customer who needs an invoice. They search the customer's name and send the invoice from the job.
A crew lead finds the next phase's job under a project and attaches site photos before the crew arrives.
Search for a job, project, customer, or location
Open the Field Mobile App.
Tap Search
on the Home or Calendar view screen.

Search by job name or number, location or customer address, customer name, or phone number.

Review the results that appear.
Note: You see only the results your role is allowed to search. If a result you expect is missing, contact your office.
Filter your search results
The filters you see depend on your permissions. Available filters are:
Job
Projects
Customer
Location
Assigned to me
Date
Note: The Assigned to me filter is available only if you have the Search & View All Jobs/Projects permissions enabled.
After you search, tap a filter above the results to narrow down the results.

Open a record from your search results
Tap the record in your results.
Check how the record opens:
If you have the right permissions assigned to your profile, the record opens in full.
If your profile does not have that permission, the record opens as a read-only details screen.

Take action on a job assigned to someone else
To take action on jobs that are not assigned to you, your role needs Take Action on Searched Jobs & Equipment and one of the Search & View permissions.
Search for the job you want to work on.
Tap the job in your results.

On the job, add a note, attach files, fill out a form, send the invoice, or mark the job complete.
