Use Configurable Services with Pricebook and Pricebook Pro in ServiceTitan and ServiceTitan Mobile

Overview

Configurable Services allow technicians to select specific materials or equipment while performing services. This helps them track the actual part used, simplifying price setting, job cost management, and inventory tracking.

Enable Configurable Services on a linked material or equipment

Step 1: Identify configurable materials or equipment, usually generic items. Ensure the configurable material or equipment is the part linked to a service and can be replaced during the sale. For example, the Replace Capacitor service is linked to the Capacitor material.

Step 2: Enable the configurable material on the Materials screen:

1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook .

2. In the side panel, click Materials.

3. Enable inline editing by turning on the Edit Mode toggle.

4. Click the Configurable Material field and enable it.

Or, enable the configurable material on the Add Material or Edit Material screen:

1. Create a pricebook material or edit it.

2. In the Edit Material window that opens, click the Configurable Material tab.

3. Turn on the Enable Configurable Material toggle.        

   Tip: By enabling this option, when adding this item to an estimate, you will be asked to choose from a list of alternative materials.

4. Select the Enable Ti continuous learning option if you are a Pricebook Pro user and you want Titan Advisor to learn and adopt the items you selected.

5. Click Add Material for material variations.

6. Select an item.

7. When finished, click Save. 

Add variations for your materials

Note: You must add a service before adding a material variation.

Pricebook Pro users:

For generic items, you don't need to add variations. If you already have vendor-specific materials in your pricebook, Titan Intelligence (TI) will start suggesting variations. 

Pricebook users:

You can add your own variations on the Materials screen.

Note: If an item has Enable Configurable Material turned on, it cannot be added as a variant to another item that has the setting on. To use an item as a variant, make sure only one of the items has Enable Configurable Material turned on.

1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook .

2. In the side panel, click Materials.

3. Enable inline editing by turning on the Edit Mode toggle.

4. Click the Add Variation field to add materials. 

5. In the Variations window that opens, click Add material to add material.

6. When finished, click Save. 

You can also add your own variations on the Add Material or Edit Material screen.

Edit variations

1. On the Estimates screen, select a material that has configured materials.

2. Click More and select the Edit Variation option. 

Use material advanced settings

1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook .

2. In the side panel, click Materials.

3. Click Settings . 

4. In the Material & Equipment Settings window that opens, select one of the two options:        

   1. Allow find more: Select this option to lock your technicians in finding and adding new items. Use this option when you want technicians to only pick from a set list of variations that have been preconfigured in pricebook. This ensures they don't select an item you don't want used for the service. 

   2. Display variation name: Select this option to see the variation name in the item group and service name description on the Estimates screen. Use this option if you want the selected item to show up in the Description section on the printed invoice for your customer to see details on the material used for the service.

5. When finished, click Save. 

Set up and use configurable services in Estimates

Note: Configurable services work only on the Estimates page. It's not supported on the Invoice page.

Configure a service to select different materials for estimates.

1. On the Estimates screen, click + Service.        

   Note: If the service has configurable items, the drawer will open.

        

2. In the drawer that opens, select an item from the list of materials suggested by Titan Intelligence (TI).        

   Note: Only Pricebook Pro users can use this feature.

3. If you selected the Allow Find More option in the Material & Equipment Settings window:        

   1. Select the material you want as part of the service. If not, click Skip and Use Generic.

4. When finished, click Save. 

5. Click Add to add the item.

6. If you want to find more items that haven't been suggested, click Find more items.

7. Search for the material and select the material you want.

8. Click Save. 

9. When finished, click Add.        

   Tip: The item description is displayed next to the service name on the estimate invoice.

If you selected the Display variation name option in the Material & Equipment Settings window:

• Select the material you want as part of the service. If not, click Skip and Use Generic.

• Click Save. 

• When finished, click Add. 

For example, If you check the unit price, you can see that the price is $466.10 as the material you selected costs $45.55.

If you select the same material again and select a different item, then you can see that the material cost is different.

Use generic price

If you want to use a generic price for the material:

1. In Pricebook, go to Pricing Builder.

2. Select the Dynamic Pricing tab.

3. Click More , and then select Edit. 

4. In the Dynamic Pricing window that opens, select the Markup section.

5. Go to the Configurable Services Price Rule sub-section and select the Generic Cost option. 

When you select a different item, the material cost won't change and the system keeps the generic item.

Configurable services in ServiceTitan Mobile

Use configurable services on the Estimates screen in ServiceTitan Mobile. When you sell in ServiceTitan Mobile, ensure to specify the part that will be used on the job to accurately estimate the price and track the item. This also helps track the items used on the job with job costing and inventory tracking.

Note: Depending on the selected Configurable Material & Equipment settings, you can select either finding items or displaying material variations.

To do that: 

1. Select the same material in ServiceTitan Mobile.

2. (Optional) Add a different item from your pricebook, which isn't recommended by Titan Intelligence.  

Note: The items in the Quick Add tab adapt to the items selected before. It also prioritizes items based on their popularity.

FAQ

Can I use Configurable Services without Pricebook Pro?

Yes, you can use configurable services without Pricebook Pro. Enable the configurable material on the Materials screen.

Configurable Services currently work only on the Estimates screen. To use this feature, you must have a material or equipment item pre-attached to the service, and it needs to be marked as Configurable Materials or Configurable Equipment in ServiceTitan. The Configurable Service window will only appear when you add a service with pre-attached configurable equipment or materials to the estimate.
