Import Measurements you already have

Prev Next

Overview

If you already have a measurement report — ordered before switching to ServiceTitan, purchased directly from a supplier, or generated outside of ServiceTitan — you can now import it directly into the Measurements table on a Job or location, instead of re-ordering it through ServiceTitan.

You can import measurements two ways:

  • From a connected provider (GAF/Quick Measure, EagleView, or Hover) — pull in a report that already exists in that provider's system.

  • By uploading a file from your device — add a measurement report file (JSON, XML, PDF, or a sketch file) directly.

Who uses this feature

Office users. This is not available on the ServiceTitan Field Mobile App — technicians can view an imported measurement's PDF as a job attachment on mobile, but the import itself must be done from the office.

Feature configuration

Account configuration is required to use this feature. Please contact your Success Manager for more details.

Two permissions control access, and both are on by default:

  • Order measurements on job/location — controls whether you can import from a connected provider (EagleView, GAF QuickMeasure, Hover).

  • Upload measurements — controls whether you can upload a file from your device.

If either permission is off for your role, the corresponding option won't appear in the import screen.

Things to know

  • Only providers your office has connected and authenticated appear as import options, marked with a Connected badge. Providers that aren't configured don't show up — contact your Success Manager to set one up.

  • Sketch file types (RIF, PIF, FIF) are only available as an upload option if the Xactimate integration is enabled for your account.

  • Once you save an import, the Source field can't be edited. If you need to change the source, deactivate the row and import again.

  • There's no in-place edit for an imported measurement. If you imported the wrong file, deactivate that row and perform a new import.

  • The Upgrade option (available on provider-ordered EagleView measurements) does not apply to imported rows, since imported measurements don't have an original ServiceTitan order ID.

  • Only the PDF from an import is available as an attachment in the ServiceTitan Field Mobile App. JSON, XML, and sketch files are not shown on mobile.

Import a measurement from a connected provider

  1. Go to the job or Location Record and open the Measurements table.

  2. Click Import.User interface displaying measurement options with an import button and order measurement link.

  3. Select the connected provider (GAF/Quick Measure, EagleView, or Hover) and click Continue.

Options for importing measurement reports from various connected providers are displayed.

Note: If you don't have one of the providers linked to your account, that option won't appear here.

  4. In the Import Measurement Table, search or filter by file type to find the report you want. Available columns: Report ID, Address, Product, Date, and Files.

  5. Select one or more reports using the checkboxes.

  6. On the Import Details screen:

    • Choose which Files to Import (JSON, XML, PDF — availability depends on the provider and report).

    • Confirm or edit the Measurement Name (auto-populated from the provider and address; you can override it). Both File and Measurement Name are required before you can finish the import.

Import measurement details with options for JSON, XML, and PDF file types.

  7. Click Import.

  8. The imported measurements will appear on the Measurements table.

Table displaying measurement estimates with status and creation details for two entries.

  9. The new row appears in the Measurements table with Name and Source populated from the import, Date set to the import date and time, Created By set to the person who imported it, Method set to Imported, and Report Status set to Ready.

  10. Imported measurements behave the same as provider-ordered ones for downstream workflows like creating an estimate.

  11. From the row's action menu Three vertical dots icon representing a menu or options in a user interface., you can: Create Estimate, Download the imported files, View Measurement (if a PDF was included), and Deactivate/Activate.

Upload a measurement file from your device

You don't need a provider connected to use this option — you can upload a file even if you don't have EagleView, GAF/Quick Measure, or Hover connected at all.

  1. Go to the job or location record and view the Measurements table.

  2. Click Import, then select Continue.

Options for importing measurement reports from various connected providers are displayed.

  3. Select Choose Files and upload your file(s): JSON, XML, PDF, and — if the Xactimate integration is enabled — a sketch file (RIF, PIF, or FIF). You can upload one of each file type per import.

  4. If ServiceTitan can auto-detect the provider from your file, the Source and Measurement name fields are pre-filled — review and edit if needed. If it can't be detected, choose the source manually and enter a measurement name. Both fields are required.

Upload measurement files in various formats for EagleView import process.

  5. Click Import.

Note: JSON is the primary file used to map measurements — it's what's used to populate spec-based Estimate templates. If JSON isn't provided, ServiceTitan uses the XML file as a backup for EagleView and Hover. For GAF Quick Measure, XML does not work as a backup for JSON. PDF files aren't used for mapping — they're stored as a viewable/downloadable reference and also appear in the measurements section of document management (estimates, project page).

If an import fails

You'll see a notification: "Measurement failed to upload: [reason]." Common reasons include an unrecognized file format, a missing or invalid JSON/XML file, or a corrupt/empty file. No row is created in the table for a failed import, and the failure is logged in the job/location activity history.
