Things to know
A technician profile must already exist in ServiceTitan before you start. To create one, go to Settings > People > Technicians and add the technician. For more, see Add and manage technician profiles.
Use the same email address the technician uses to log in to ServiceTitan. Using a different email breaks the connection between their Field Pro profile and their jobs.
Use cases
A new technician just joined the team and needs Field Pro access before their first ride-along.
A current technician is being added to Field Pro for the first time.
Step 1: Enable Field Pro permissions for the technician role
It is recommended to assign permissions to a technician role rather than to each technician individually. That way, any technician assigned to the role automatically gets the right permissions, and you don't repeat this step every time.
If every technician at your company uses Field Pro Advanced, add the Field Pro permissions to all of your existing technician roles.
If only a couple of technicians use Field Pro Advanced, create a dedicated role, for example, Field Pro Technician, and add the permissions there. Then assign that role to the right technicians.
To assign Field Pro permissions to a role:
Go to the top toolbar and click Settings
.In the side panel, go to People > Role Permissions.
On the Roles screen that opens, click Edit next to the technician role you want to update.
In the Field Pro section, select the following permissions:
View Field Pro: Enables Field Pro functionality for the technician, giving them access to the Field Pro app and its features.
Enable job briefs: Allows the technician to receive pre-job briefs automatically after they're dispatched to a job.
Tip: For technicians to use Atlas in Field Pro, ensure Enable Atlas in Mobile for Technician is also selected on the role. This permission is enabled by default for managed technicians.
When finished, click Save.
After the permissions are set on the role, assign the role to the technician. To assign a role to a technician, go to Settings > People > Technicians > Edit > Role and select the role. For more, see Add and manage technician profiles.
Note: You can also set Field Pro permissions directly on an individual technician's profile. For more, see Set permissions for an individual employee or technician.
Step 2: Enable Field Pro Standard for the technician
After permissions are in place, turn on Field Pro Standard so the technician can use Atlas in Field Pro, an AI assistant built into the mobile experience that gives technicians:
Equipment information: Quick access to manuals, specs, and diagrams.
Troubleshooting: AI guidance to identify likely causes and recommended fixes.
Calculators and diagnostic tests: Built-in tools such as superheat/subcool, pressure set points, nitrogen pressure test, and duct sizing.
Go to the top toolbar and click Settings
.In the side panel, go to People > Technicians.
On the Technicians screen that opens, click Edit next to the technician you want to enable.
In the Pro Products section, turn on the Enable Field Pro – Standard toggle.

When finished, click Save Changes.
Step 3: Assign the technician to a Field Pro team
Teams in Field Pro determine which dashboards, scorecards, and insights the technician's data rolls up to. Every Field Pro technician needs a team.
Go to the top toolbar and click Settings
.In the side panel, go to Field Pro > Settings.
On the Field Pro Settings screen that opens, click the Technicians tab.

Find the technician you just enabled and click Edit.
On the Edit Technician pop-up that opens, from the Team dropdown, select the team the technician should belong to.

When finished, click Save.
Tip: If you're onboarding several technicians at once, select all of them on the Technicians tab and click Bulk Edit to assign the team and toggle Field Pro access in one action. For more, see Manage Field Pro settings for technicians.
Step 4: Have the technician set a password and sign in to Field Pro app
The technician finishes onboarding by setting their Field Pro password and signing in to the app on their device.
Send the technician instructions to download the Field Pro app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Have the technician open the Field Pro app and tap Log In.
Have the technician sign in with the same email address they use to sign in to ServiceTitan. If they don't have a password yet, they can tap Reset Password to set one.
For full sign-in steps and troubleshooting, see Download, sign in and use the Field Pro app.
