Things to know
When you build an estimate on a location without booking a job first, ServiceTitan creates an open location opportunity that you can follow up on later.
You can start an estimate from either a Location Record or a Customer Record. If the customer has more than one location, you choose the location during the workflow.
You can also start an estimate by right-clicking the customer address on the Call Booking screen and selecting Build Estimate.
An opportunity stays Open until it is sold, dismissed, or transferred to a job and sold by a technician.
Best practices
Set a Follow-Up On date when you build the estimate so the opportunity is easy to find and act on in Follow Up.
If the customer wants to review the estimate with a technician on site, transfer the opportunity to a new job instead of rebuilding it.
Use estimate templates when you build the estimate to keep pricing and tasks consistent across your team.
Use cases
An office employee builds an estimate for a returning customer over the phone without booking a job, then follows up later to close the sale.
A CSR builds an estimate on a location, and when the customer wants an in-person review, transfers the opportunity to a new job for a technician.
A project manager builds a location opportunity, marks it sold, and books it directly into an installation job without leaving the office.
Build an opportunity on a Location record
When you build an opportunity on a Location, you don't have to book a job first. To build an estimate on a Location without booking a job:
Go to the Location record you want to add an estimate to, or use Search to find it.
In the Opportunities & Estimates section, click Build Estimate
Tip: You can also build an estimate on a Location by right-clicking the customer address during call booking and selecting Build Estimate.

In the Build Estimate(s) pop-up that opens, select a Business Unit (BU) for the estimate.

(Optional) Select a category for the estimate.
Do one of the following:
To use an estimate template, search for and select the template you want then click Done. ServiceTitan builds the estimate from the template and opens Location Opportunity Follow-Up. Your opportunity is ready, so you can skip the remaining steps.
To build the estimate from scratch, click + Build Estimate, then continue with the steps below.
In the Create Estimate screen that opens, enter a Name for the estimate and select a Business Unit for the estimate.

Fill out any additional optional fields for the estimate.
When finished, click Create.
Sell an estimate from a location opportunity
After you build an opportunity on a location, you can mark it as sold so you can book it into an installation job.
Go to the location record.
In the side menu, click Opportunities & Estimates.
Select the opportunity you want to sell.
Select the Sold/Convert dropdown and select the employee who sold the estimate.
Click Sold/Convert.

The Sold estimate opens, and the status updates to Sold.
Book a sold estimate into an installation job
After you mark an opportunity as Sold, you can book it into an installation job. To book a sold estimate into a job:
From Location Opportunity Follow-Up, click View Sold Estimate.

Select each material, task, and piece of equipment for the job, or click Select All to select every item on the estimate.
Click Book New Job to open the Call Booking screen, with the customer Location already selected.

Book the job. For more, see Book a job.
When you finish booking the job, the job opens.
Transfer an opportunity to a new job
If you build an opportunity on a location but the customer wants to review it with a technician on site, you can transfer the location opportunity to a new job. To transfer a location opportunity to a new job:
From Location Opportunity Follow-Up, click Transfer to job.
Tip: You can also transfer an estimate to a job from the estimate itself by clicking Transfer to Job.

In Call Booking, confirm the customer location and continue booking the job. The customer location is selected automatically, and a notification shows that an estimate is moving to this job.
Tip: Click View Opportunity to open Location Opportunity Follow-Up, or Remove to remove the estimate from the job.

Book the job. Once booked, the location opportunity transfers to the job's opportunity. Its status stays Open until your technician sells it to the customer.
If the technician is unable to make the sale, you can find the open opportunity in Follow Up.
Find open location opportunities in Follow Up
You can find each of your open opportunities on locations in Follow Up. To find open location opportunities:
Go to the navigation bar and click Follow Up.
Click Unsold Estimates.
For Include Opportunities, select On Locations. Each unsold estimate on a location appears.
