Use Tap-to-Pay in ServiceTitan Mobile

Overview

Tap-to-Pay on Mobile allows quick, secure card-present transactions, saving time and lowering credit card fees compared to manual keyed-in transactions. You can accept payments with Tap-to-Pay directly with your mobile device without having to use a credit card reader.

Things to know

  • To use Tap-to-Pay directly on your mobile device, make sure NFC and contactless payments are enabled in your mobile device's settings where applicable.

  • For a mobile phone, you must have ServiceTitan Mobile installed on your device in order to directly accept payments through Tap-to-Pay.

  • If you're using Tap-to-Pay with TSYS, your transaction detail is located in the External Payments screen found in the Accounting sidebar.

  • Tap-to-Pay directly on an iPad is not available as iPads don't support NFC. For more, see the Device Transition from tablet to phone section below.

  • Tap to Pay directly on Android tablets is only available if the tablet supports NFC. This is uncommon. We know it works and is supported on the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active tablet.

  • Most modern phones support NFC and can be used in the device transition from tablet to phone workflow.

  • A device passcode or biometric is required on the NFC device for Tap-to-Pay to work.

Accept Tap-to-Pay Terms and Conditions on your mobile device after first login

  1. Ensure a device passcode or biometric is in place to unlock the device.

  2. Login to the ServiceTitan Mobile app using your credentials.

  3. After a successful login, you'll be prompted to accept Tap-to-Pay terms and conditions.

  4. Tap Continue to read the full terms and conditions and tap Accept.

If you do not accept or cancel the process, you'll be prompted again when processing a Tap-to-Pay payment or when you login again.

Accept payments with Tap-to-Pay directly on your mobile phone or NFC enabled Android tablet

  1. In ServiceTitan mobile, navigate to the invoice.

  2. Tap Pay

  3. Select Full Balance or enter a Partial Balance.

  4. Tap Tap to Pay. The Confirm payment details screen opens. 

  5. (Optional) To keep the card on file for future transactions, tap Remember this card.

  6. Tap Continue. The Hold Here to Pay screen opens. 

  7. Once the payment is accepted, have the customer sign for the payment.

  8. Tap Done.

Device Transition from tablet to phone

If you're using ServiceTitan Mobile on an iPad or non-NFC enabled Android tablet, you can scan a QR code using a different mobile device that has NFC capabilities and ServiceTitan Mobile installed to complete the payment transaction. To transition from a tablet to a phone for Tap-to-Pay:

  1. From your tablet, navigate to the invoice in ServiceTitan Mobile.

  2. Tap Pay. 

  3. Select Full Balance or enter a Partial Balance.

  4. Tap Tap to Pay. The Scan QR Code screen appears. 

  5. Use your NFC-enabled phone to scan the QR code on the tablet. The Pay screen opens on your phone.

  6. On your phone, tap Tap to Pay and complete the transaction.

  7. Return to the tablet and tap Close on the Scan QR Code screen. The system automatically refreshes with the updated payment details.
