Overview

Set up a different unit of measure for one item to manage transactions like purchases, transfers, and adjustments. You can also directly generate purchase orders for items enabled with a unit of measure from the Requisition screen.

Set up a new unit of measure for an item

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side menu, click Materials or Equipment.

  3. On the screen that opens, select the item for which you want to add a new unit of measure.

  4. Click Actions, and select View/Edit Material on the dropdown.A cursor selecting View/Edit Material from the dropdown list.

  5. On the Edit Material screen that opens, click the Inventory Settings tab.

  6. On the Inventory Settings screen that opens, click the Unit of Measure card.A cursor clicking the Unit of Measure box.

  7. On the Unit of Measure screen that opens, click Add Unit.A cursor clicking Add Unit on the Unit of Measure screen.

  8. On the Add Unit of Measure pop-up that opens:

    1. In the Unit Description field, enter the alternative unit for the item.

    2. In the Qty field, enter the quantity.

    3. Turn on the Used for Purchasing toggle.

    4. From the Vendor dropdown, select the vendor from which you primarily buy the item.

    5. (Optional) In the Vendor Part # field, enter the vendor number for the vendor you selected.

    6. In the Unit Cost field, enter the cost of the item.

    7. (Optional) Select Vendor Default Unit if the data you entered is typically how you buy the item from the vendor you selected.

    8. When finished, click Add Unit.Image showing the Add Unit of Measure screen.

      Tip: To change the unit of measure information, click Edit. On the Edit Unit of Measure pop-up that opens, make the changes you want then click Save.A cursor clicking the Edit icon top change the unit of measure.
