Change Bill To customer on an exported invoice
Typically, you cannot change the Bill To customer on a job or project if the invoice is already batched, posted or exported. If the invoice is already exported, you have two options:
Option 1: Create an adjustment invoice to clear out the invoice balance and create a new job with the correct Bill To customer.
Option 2: Create an adjustment invoice to clear out the invoice balance and create another adjustment invoice with the correct Bill To customer and add the tasks in the adjustment invoice.
Option 1
Search for and go to the invoice that needs to be corrected.
On the invoice screen, click Add an adjustment invoice.
On the adjustment invoice screen, add the same tasks from the original invoice to the adjustment invoice but in negative quantities. For example, if the original invoice had a quantity of 1 for task AMSTDTLT, then enter a quantity of "-1" in the adjustment invoice.
Note: Make sure the unit price is positive. Adding a negative unit price will double your balance.
If there were payments made, add the exact payment amounts in the adjustment invoice but in negative value. For example, if a payment of $50.00 was made, enter "-$50.00" in the adjustment invoice.
Note: Steps 3-4 are necessary to clear out the balance on the invoice.
