Why do some of my services show a blank category in their details even though they are assigned to a category?

Problem

Some services assigned to a category show a blank category when viewing their details. This happens because the parent categories were deactivated.

Solution

Select the solution that best fits your needs. This will fix the issue of services showing a blank category.

Check if the parent category is active

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side panel, click Pricebook > Categories.

  3. Use the filter to show inactive categories.

  4. Look for your parent category to see if it is inactive.

If the parent category is inactive, select one of the options below:

  • Assign the service to a new or active category

  • Reactivate a parent category

  • Move the affected subcategories to new parent categories

Assign a new category to the service

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side panel, click Pricebook > Services.

  3. Find the service.

  4. Click Moreand select the View/Edit Service option from the dropdown.

  5. Find the Category field.

  6. Select a new, active category from the dropdown.

Reactivate a parent category

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side panel, click Pricebook > Categories.

  3. Click Filters to filter the Status by Inactive.

  4. Find the parent category you want to reactivate.

  5. Click Activate .

Move subcategories to a new parent category

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side panel, click Pricebook > Categories.

  3. Find the subcategory you want to move.

  4. Open the subcategory details.

  5. Select a new, active parent category from the dropdown menu.
