Problem

You can't change the business unit for a material category because it is under another category. This parent category has the business unit. This setup locks the Business Unit field, making it grayed out and unchangeable.

Solution

Fix the issue with changing the business unit for material categories.

Update the business unit for material categories

  1. In ServiceTitan, go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side menu, click Categories.

  3. Select the Material tab.

  4. Find the material category you want to change.

  5. Decide if you want to move the category out of the parent category or change the business unit of the parent category.

Option 1

To move the category out of the parent category:

  1. To move the category out, drag the category out of the parent category.

  2. After moving, change the business unit of the material category. For more, see Move a category or subcategory

Option 2

To change the business unit of the parent category, add the desired business unit to the parent category. This change will apply to all categories under the parent category. For more, see Edit a category or subcategory.

By following these steps, you should be able to adjust the business units as needed, ensuring the correct access to materials for different departments.
