Set Baseline and Average Profit Margin for Ads Optimizer

The first time you access Ads Optimizer, you are prompted to enter your baseline performance and average profit margin. This information provides a clearer picture of the benefits Ads Optimizer delivers and helps to more accurately identify any wasted spend.

Note: If you previously set your baseline and average profit margin and need to update them, see the Edit Baseline and Average Profit Margin for Ads Optimizer section below.

  1. Go to the top toolbar and click Marketing.

  2. In the side menu, click Ads Optimizer under Campaigns.

  3. In the Set Baseline screen that opens, enter a baseline that you want to measure your Optimizer performance against. This includes:

    • Monthly Google Ad Spend: Enter the total amount you spend on Google Ads each month on average.

    • Monthly Google Ad Revenue: Enter the total income you generate from Google Ads each month on average.

    • Average Cost/Lead: Enter the average amount you spend per lead acquired through Google Ads campaigns.

Note: If you don't know these numbers for your business, enter the minimum acceptable values for these numbers. For example, if you know that the smallest ROAS that you can tolerate is 3x and you plan on spending $5,000 a month, enter $5,000 for your Montly Google Ad Spend and $15,000 for your Montly Google Ad Revenue. Entering a best guess is fine as you can always come back and edit these values later.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Enter your Average Profit Margin. This is used to calculate the Profit column on the Performance tab.

Note: This does not need to be exact. A ballpark estimate is fine.

  6. Click Next.
