Capture job-site recordings in the dedicated Field Pro app from the Field Mobile App

Prev Next

This improvement routes job-site recording through the standalone Field Pro app instead of running inside the Field Mobile App, giving technicians automatic recording triggers and a focused job view.

A timer displaying five seconds with options to pause or finish the task.

What's changing?

Recording in the Field Mobile App previously ran through an embedded recording tool inside the app. The Field Mobile App now automatically opens the standalone Field Pro app when you arrive at a job. Recording starts at arrival and stops when you close out. The job view in the Field Mobile App no longer shows recording banners or consent prompts.

Note: This feature is currently in Limited Release and available on request. It is subject to change. To enable this feature for your account, reach out to your Pro Product Specialist (PPS).

Resources

Before and After

Before (Current)

  1. Arrive at a job in the Field Mobile App.

  2. The embedded recording tool starts inside the Field Mobile App.

  3. Recording banners and consent prompts appear in the job view.

  4. Close out the job to stop recording.

Impact: Recording and job management share the same view, which can interrupt job tasks.

After

  1. Arrive at a job in the Field Mobile App.

  2. The Field Mobile App automatically opens the standalone Field Pro app.

  3. Recording starts in Field Pro, with the consent prompt shown there.

  4. Complete, pause, or close the job in the Field Mobile App.

  5. The Field Mobile App automatically sends a stop signal to Field Pro to end the recording.

Impact: The Field Mobile App job view stays focused on job tasks. Recording starts and stops automatically at the correct moments.

Who uses this feature

  • Residential Service and Replacement, Residential Construction

  • Technicians

  • Region availability: All regions

How it works for your industry

Residential Service and Replacement

  • A technician arrives at an air conditioning repair job. The Field Mobile App opens Field Pro automatically and recording begins. The technician works through the job without any recording prompts in the job view.

  • A technician finishes a water heater replacement and taps Complete. The Field Mobile App sends a stop signal to Field Pro and recording ends without any extra steps from the technician.

  • A technician is dispatched to a callback visit. Recording starts at arrival and stops at closeout, capturing the full visit from the Field Pro app.

Residential Construction

  • A technician arrives at a new construction site for a rough-in inspection. Field Pro opens automatically and recording starts so the visit is captured from the moment of arrival.

  • A technician pauses a job to reschedule. The Field Mobile App sends a stop signal to Field Pro so the recording for that visit ends at the correct point.

  • A technician works through several appointments in one day. Each arrival triggers a new recording in Field Pro and each closeout ends it, keeping visits separate.

How to Prepare?

  1. To enable this feature, have an administrator reach out to your Pro Product Specialist (PPS). Your PPS will confirm all technicians have the standalone Field Pro app installed and logged in with the correct permissions, then enable the configuration for your account.

  2. Confirm that all technicians who will use recording have downloaded the Field Pro app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store before the feature is enabled.

  3. Train technicians that recording banners and consent prompts will no longer appear in the Field Mobile App—recording is now managed in the Field Pro app.

  4. Align your team on the job closeout actions that stop recording: completing, pausing, holding and rescheduling, or scheduling another appointment.

  5. If technicians have been experiencing recording issues in the Field Mobile App—such as recordings stuck uploading, stuck analyzing, or cut short—contact your Pro Product Specialist to discuss whether this improvement is right for your account.
