This article helps resolve errors when adding the Chat to Text widget code to a website.
Problem
Companies can install the Chat to Text widget on their website by adding the provided code. However, they may get error messages that prevent them from adding the widget code successfully. Follow the troubleshooting steps to help resolve errors when adding Chat to Text code to a website.
Solution
The Chat to Text widget code is URL-specific, which means the website URL added when setting up the widget must match exactly with the company’s website URL. For example, if a company’s website is https://plumbers.com, but they added the URL as www.plumbers.com when setting up their widget in ServiceTitan, then the URLs technically do not match and the code will not work when adding it to their website. Check if the URL that was added to the widget matches the exact URL of the company website. If it does not, then create a new Chat to Text widget and add the correct URL.
Follow the workflows below to resolve the issue:
Check if the URL added to the widget matches the website URL
Get the company website’s full URL link (including the https:// prefix).
In ServiceTitan, click the gear icon to access Settings, and then go to Integrations > Marketing Integrations.
Click View in the Chat to Text widget.
Find the active widget on the Chat to Text widgets page, double-click the URL link in the widget, open a new tab, and paste the link into the URL bar of the new tab.
The link pasted from the widget should match the company’s website URL exactly. Note: These are common examples of the actual website URL not matching the link entered in the widget.
The widget link is missing the https:// in the URL.
The widget link contains www. even though the exact company URL doesn’t.
If the company website link already matches the link entered in the widget exactly, reach out to the Support Team for further investigation. If the actual website link does not match the link entered in the widget, then follow the steps in the next Make a new Chat to Text widget with the correct website link section to fix the Chat to Text URL.
Make a new Chat to Text widget with correct website link
In ServiceTitan, click on the gear icon to access Settings, and then go to Integrations > Marketing Integrations.
Click View in the Chat to Text widget.
Toggle the incorrect widget off.
Click the Add New button in the upper-right corner to create a new widget.
Set up the new widget as desired, and make sure to paste the exact company website URL into the Website Link field (including the https:// prefix).
Re-install the updated Chat to Text script code to the company website. Note: Delete any previous instances of the Chat to Text widget code from the website editor. Even if the old code is commented out, it can still interfere with the new code, so it's best to delete any older Chat to Text scripts completely from the website editor.
