Month-over-Month Analysis report templateLast updated on 03/22/2022

With the Month-over-Month Analysis report template, you can build graphs comparing key performance indicators (KPIs) from month to month. You can view multiple months on one graph, giving you a visual tool for tracking business performance.

Create a report

Follow the steps to create a custom report based on the Month-over-Month Analysis template.

For the best results, report on a single metric at a time. Under METRICS, make sure the metric you want to report on is the only item selected. You can report on:

  • Completed Jobs—Number jobs completed within the selected date range

  • Completed Revenue—Subtotal of income items for completed jobs

  • Total Revenue—Sum of completed revenue, adjustment revenue, and non-job revenue

  • Total Sales—Sum of sold estimate subtotals

  • Opportunity Job Average—Average completed revenue from job opportunities. A job opportunity is a completed job not marked as No Charge, or is marked as No Charge with an invoice subtotal that meets the job type sold threshold

  • Lead Calls—Number of calls lasting at least 60 seconds and are not classified as excused

  • Canceled Jobs—Number of jobs scheduled within the selected date range that are canceled

  • Future Scheduled Jobs—All jobs created within the selected date range that are not canceled

Run a report

Set filters before you run your report:

  1. Click the Period dropdown and select the time unit you want to report on: Day or Week.

  2. Use the From - To field to select a date range to report on. You can:

    • Use the calendar to select a specific date range and click Apply.

    • Use the left menu to select a preset date range:

      • Today—From 12:00 AM to the current time

      • Yesterday—Previous day, from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM

      • Last 7 Days—Previous seven days, including the current date

      • Last 14 Days—Previous 14 days, including the current date

      • Last 30 Days—Previous 30 days, including the current date

      • Month to Date—From the first of the current month to the current day

      • Last Month—Entire month before the current month. For example, if the date is February 5, the entire month of January.

      • Last 90 Days—Previous 90 days, including the current date

      • This Quarter—Current quarter, including future dates. For example, if the date is April 25, from April 1 - June 30.

      • Last Quarter—Entire quarter before the current quarter. For example, if the date is April 25, from January 1 - March 31.

      • Quarter to Date—From the first day of the current quarter to the current day

      • Year to Date—From January 1 of the current year to the current day

      • Last 365 Days—Previous 365 days, including the current date

Tip: The results display in a month-long graph. Enter a range that spans at least two months. For example, if you enter 11/01/20 to 12/31/20, the report graphs KPIs from November and December on the same timeline for you to compare.

  3. From the Business Unit dropdown, select the job business units (BUs) you want to report on. By default, the report runs for all BUs. You can filter your report by business units or business unit categories:

    • Click the dropdown to select individual BUs.

    • To report on BU categories such as trade or division, click Filter icon-filter.png, select the BU categories you want to include, and click Filter.

  4. When you’re done setting your filters, click Run Report.
