Feature configuration

Things to know

  • You can accept check payments without an internet connection. After accepting the payment, the Payment screen shows this message: Not Yet Processed. Please sync your device within 72 hours to process the payment. The transaction is stored and then later processed when you have a stable internet connection.

Note: You won't see a Success or Failed response until you're back online. Make sure to check the payment to see if it succeeded or failed.

Best practices

  • Keep physical checks for at least seven days to ensure the payment has been posted. After that, you can shred and discard physical checks.

  • For optimal results:

    • Place the check flat on a dark colored surface that's not reflective and is well lit. Position your device's camera directly over the check, not at an angle, fitting all four corners into the guides provided.

    • Write a note on the front of the check after the payment successfully goes through. For example, you could write Mobile Deposit [date check received]. This ensures the same check is not deposited twice.

Use cases

  • After finishing a furnace install, you can scan the homeowner's check directly in the mobile app. Get a Success confirmation right from your truck so you know the payment is secure before you even pull out of the driveway.

  • When a landlord pays by check for a water heater repair, selecting the MRDC payment type sends it straight for automated processing. This ensures the office sees the payment instantly, keeping your customer's account up to date without you having to hand off paperwork.

  • If you're running multiple replacement jobs in a day, just scan each check as you go. ServiceTitan processes them in the background, ensuring deposits are handled automatically so you can go straight home at the end of your shift instead of stopping at the bank.
