How can I recover a deleted custom report, and is there a way to check who renamed or deleted it?

Problem

Custom reports may appear deleted when they have actually been renamed. You need to recreate the report and identify who made the changes.

Solution

Check if the report was renamed

Instead of deleting the report, it may have been renamed. Use the search bar to search for terms that may be related to the report you are looking for.

For example, if you have a report titled Open and Unpaid Invoices, but you can't find it, search for individual terms from that name, such as Open or Invoices.

You can also use the Filters to help you narrow down your search results.

  • Use the Categories filter to look for the report in the category you placed it in when creating the custom report. For example, if you put the report in the Operations category when creating the report, select Operations from the category list to only see reports in that category.

  • Use the Templates filter to look for the report template the custom report was based on. For example, if you created a custom report based on the Jobs template, select Jobs from the template list to only see reports created from that template.

  • Use the Created by filter to look for reports you created. Select You from the list to only see reports you created.

Recreate the report

If you can't locate the report, you can recreate it.

  1. Go to Reports in the main navigation menu.

  2. Click Create Report.

  3. Under Choose report type, select All.

  4. Under Select a report template, select the template you used to create the original report.

  5. Add or remove columns from the report, then click Next.

  6. Give the report a name, select the category where the report displays on the main Reports screen, and provide an optional description for the report.

  7. When you're finished, click Save.
