How can I make a custom field mandatory on the Job Booking screen and change a custom field from a text box to a dropdown?

Problem

Custom fields need to be mandatory on the Job Boking screen. Text fields need to become dropdown menus. Project numbers need to start at a specific number instead of default values.

Solution

Follow the steps below to solve the issue.

Make a custom field mandatory

1. Go to the top toolbar and click Settings  .

2. In the side panel, click Operations > Custom Fields.

3. Find your custom field for the Call booking screen and click Edit.

4. Select make this a required field. 

5. Save your changes.

Change a text field to a dropdown

You can't change an existing text field to a dropdown. This prevents errors with existing data.

1. Go to the top toolbar and click Settings  .

2. In the side panel, click Operations > Custom Fields.

3. Click Add.

4. Name the new field the same as your old field.

5. Select Dropdown as the field type.

6. Add your dropdown options.

7. Save the new custom field. For more, see Add custom fields.

8. Deactivate the old text field.
