Overview

Use the Cost Adjustment Editor to create and manage cost adjustments directly from the Budget vs Actual table in the project financials section of a project.

Cost adjustments update project costs without affecting revenue, such as adding unplanned materials or correcting expense amounts. Instead of leaving the financials screen, you can open the editor, adjust expense line items, and save your changes in one place.

Things to know

  • The Cost Adjustment Editor is only available with Project Management.

  • You can create cost adjustments in both the Segments and GL views of the editor. The Edit icon appears on expense line items only. It does not appear on revenue account rows.

  • Cost adjustments cannot be applied to revenue accounts. The pricebook item selector filters out items associated with revenue accounts. The dropdown does not display items by default. Begin typing to search for and select a pricebook item.

  • Item allocation amounts and percentages must equal the total adjustment amount before you can apply the adjustment.

  • The Number of Adjustments counter at the top of the editor shows how many adjustments you have made compared to the total number of editable expense line items in the current view.

  • You can save an adjustment as a draft to continue editing it later. When a draft adjustment exists for a project, the dropdown label changes from Create Adjustment to Edit Draft Adjustment.
