Open and view technician statuses

Overview

Use the technician status filter on the Dispatch Board to filter technicians by status and understand workload distribution at a glance.

View technician statuses

You can find the technician status filter on the Dispatch Board, with near real-time status counts and multi-select to filter technicians and view workload.

To view technician statuses:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click DispatchIcon-dispatch-inactive.png.

  2. Then select Daily or Weekly Dispatch Board.

  3. On the dispatch board you selected, select the technician status you want to see.Team schedule for November 19, 2025, showing appointments for Adam and Bob.

Technician statuses on the Dispatch Board

There are eleven technician statuses available on the Dispatch Board:

  • Assign: Job has been allocated to a technician.

    Note: This status isn't selectable in the technician status bar or timesheet activities. It appears automatically when a job is assigned.

  • Clocked Out: Technician has finished their day and has no open jobs.

  • Inactive: Technician's shift has started, but they have not clocked into any status.

  • In Transit: Technician is traveling to a job location.

  • Lunch: Technician is on a designated meal break.User David is on lunch and set to 'Do not disturb'.

    Note: During this status, you'll see the Do Not Disturbicon. This indicates that technicians are on lunch and they should not be contacted, since they are off the clock and not being paid for work during that period.

  • Meeting: Technician is in a meeting during work hours.

  • On Job: Technician is actively working on an assigned job.

  • On within 1 hour: Technician is within one hour of their scheduled shift start.

  • Personal: Technician is taking personal time.

    Note: During this status, you'll see the Do Not Disturbicon. This indicates that technicians are on personal time and they should not be contacted, since they are off the clock and not being paid for work during that period. To be placed on personal time and have the personal time icon applied, the technician should contact the dispatcher. To return from personal time, the technician should again reach out to the dispatcher and ask to be taken off personal time.

  • Stand By: Technician is within their shift and not engaged in any other activity.

  • Ready for Work: Technician is prepared to begin work before their official shift start time.

Create a custom technician status

  1. Go to the top toolbar and click SettingsA simple icon representing a settings gear. .

  2. In the side panel, go to People>Payroll.

  3. On the Payroll Setting screen that opens, under the Global Settings section, click Edit next to Timesheet Activities.Settings for payroll frequency, employee payroll, and timesheet activities management options.

  4. On the Timesheet Activities screen that opens, click Create Timesheet Activity.User interface showing options to manage timesheet activities and create new entries.

  5. On the Create Timesheet Activity screen that opens, create a Lunch status as an example.

  6. In the General Settings section, from the Timesheet Category dropdown field, select Meal.

  7. In the Timesheet Activity Code field, enter the name Lunch.

  8. Enter other fields. For more see, Create timesheet activities.

  9. When finished, click Finish.

The technician custom field is created, go back to the Dispatch Board to assign to a technician you want.
