This helps you improve workflow efficiency and save time by eliminating the need to recreate estimates. --- ### #### Who uses this feature - CSRs and Office employees - Applies to all business types #### Feature configuration - Account configuration is required to use this feature. Please contact [Technical Support](http://go.servicetitan.com/ask) for details. - The *View estimate* and *Edit estimate* permissions are required to use this feature. Please contact the account administrator on your team. ## Things to know - Commercial users can [apply a rate sheet](/v1/docs/apply-rate-sheets-on-an-invoice-or-estimate) when creating an estimate. - Estimates can be used to track commercial or construction bids. They can be created by the assigned technician on a job from mobile, or performed from the office by an employee at a later time. For complex bidding that uses a third-party tool, ServiceTitan recommends you use the estimate import from the office side. ## Add an estimate to an existing job 1. Using [Search](/v1/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan), find the job to which you want to add an estimate. 2. The *Create Estimates* section opens. Enter information as needed: 1. **Customer and Locations:** In this section, you can see the customer details for whom you want to create an estimate. 2. **General Details:** In this section, you can provide general details about the estimate. > [!NOTE] > **Note:** When you create a new estimate that remains unsold, you can update the estimate's business unit until it's sold. 3. **Price Details:** In this section, you can provide information about following up and pricing. 1. **Rate Sheet:** If you're using [Client Specific Pricing](/v1/docs/apply-rate-sheets-on-an-invoice-or-estimate), you can apply a rate sheet to your estimate. 4. **Sale Information:** In this section, you can provide information about how the estimate is sold. 5. Using [Search](/v1/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan), find the job to which you want to add an estimate. 2. From the **Actions** dropdown, select **Add an Estimate**. 3. When finished, click **Done**. ## Edit an estimate 1. Click on the estimate you want to edit. 2. In the *Update Estimate* section, make the changes you want. [Search for and open](/v1/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan) the estimate you want to add items to. 2. If you want to add an item group, click **Item Group**. 4. In the *Create Item Group* pop-up that opens: 1. Select the *Parent Item Type* you want to add. 2. Click **Select Parent Item** dropdown and select an item. 3. In the *Name* field, enter the name for the Parent Item. 4. In the *Description* field, enter a description for the Parent Item. 5. Click the **Project Labels** dropdown and select a project label. 6. The job Audit Trail lists all estimate actions including creation date, item edits, who performed each action, and much more. You can view the audit trail at the bottom of the job record. #### Can I create an estimate from the office? Yes. There are two main ways to start an estimate from the office based on whether a site visit is required to gather information for the estimate or not. For a step-by-step guide, read [Start an estimate from the office](/v1/docs/end-to-end-project-management#generate-and-sell-estimates-to-create-budgets). #### Why do I have two estimates with different subtotals but the same tax amount? Tax amount should be different with the different subtotals. This can be caused by a rare glitch that may occur when using the *This is an add-on task* option on the invoice task.
