Use Synchrony Financing in ServiceTitan

Prev Next

Overview

Built right into ServiceTitan, the Synchrony Financing integration allows you to offer Synchrony financing plans, submit an application, and receive a fast decision directly in the ServiceTitan Mobile App. You can also set custom financing rules, like spend thresholds on individual plans. This lets you control the open line of credit options you offer your customers for specific jobs and automate the financing experience altogether.

With Synchrony, you can learn common custom financing terms you'll see across the product, set up custom financing with custom rules or default options as needed, email or text Synchrony applications from the ServiceTitan mobile app, authorize Payments in the mobile app, create sales slips and send them to your customers for e-signatures, and charge pre-authorized payments in ServiceTitan.

Common Terms

Get familiar with these commonly used terms across the Custom Financing tool:

  • Default Rule: Financing rule that is not tied to a business unit. A job assigned to a business unit that does not have a custom rule loads financing offers according to the default rule.

  • Custom Rule: Financing rule that is tied to specific business units. Any job assigned to these business units loads financing offers according to this custom rule.

  • Default Tier: Financing plans selected under this tier are available for all purchase amounts. Only one financing plan is used to calculate estimated monthly financing costs.

  • Custom Tier: Financing plans in a custom tier is only available if you enter an open line of credit amount greater than the specified spend threshold.

  • Spend Threshold: Set dollar amount that triggers a tier and corresponding financing plans to become available to the customer to apply for.

  • Default Plan: The selected default plan is used to calculate the estimated monthly financing cost on each estimate. The default plan from the custom tier with the highest available spend threshold is used.

Set up Synchrony in ServiceTitan

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Settings .

  2. In the side panel, click Integrations > Financing.

  3. Under Providers, find Synchrony and click Configure.

  4. Click Get Started.

  5. Set up default accounts - Add up to three merchant IDs to serve as the foundation for your default rule, which automatically applies to any business unit without a custom assignment.

    • Enter a Merchant ID:Product Code:Group Code value (Add product code and group code after the merchant ID, each separated by a colon. Don't include spaces.) and a Name (User facing name for merchant ID).

    • Click + Add Merchant ID to add up to two more, then click Next.

  6. Set up accounts for specific business units (optional) - Configure custom account groups for specific business units (up to 3 merchant IDs per group). If you add accounts, you must also create custom rules to activate the relationship, or the system will apply the default rule to those units.

    • Select the Business Units this account group applies to, then enter Merchant ID:Product Code:Group Code and Name values the same way (click + Add Merchant ID for up to 3 total).

    • Click + Add Account to configure another business-unit-specific group, or Next/Skip to continue.

  7. Exclude business units from financing (optional) - Financing options will never be displayed for excluded business units. Select business units from the dropdown, then click Next, or Skip.

  8. Review configuration - Lists each account group by Name and business unit (for example, Default → HVAC Carrier, HVAC - Install → HVAC Carrier 3). Click Save to finish.

Saving takes you to the Synchrony page:

  • Accounts - Configure financing options for eligible business units. Lists each account group by Name with its identifier below (for example, Default → HVAC Carrier, or HVAC - Install → HVAC Carrier 3 for a business-unit-specific group). Click Edit to make changes.

  • Rules - The Default Rule covers unassigned units; use custom rules to override defaults or target specific merchant ID groups.

Click Add Rule to create one. Existing rules are listed in a table with Rule, Business Units, Plans, and Edited columns (for example, Default Rule| Unassigned | 930, 920, 940 | 06/23/26 - Plans is a bare comma-separated list of plan IDs, not a tier-range format).

Create a default rule

  1. On the Synchrony page, in the Rules section, add a default rule by clicking Create Default Rule.

  2. The Create Financing Rule wizard opens, scoped to your Default account - its Name appears as the page heading (for example, HVAC Carrier).

  3. Under Select Rule Set Up, choose one of two options:

    • Use multiple spending tiers (Recommended) - Offer different plans for jobs with different proposal prices. This is selected by default.

    • Do not use spending tiers - Offer the same plans for all jobs, regardless of proposal price.

  4. Under Select Plans (Add financing plans to spending tiers. For every eligible job, customers will be offered the plans within the tier that corresponds with the cost of their job estimate.), use Expand All or Collapse All in the top right to show or hide every tier card's details at once.

  5. Your first tier card, Tier 1, is expanded by default.

    • Delete Tier (top right of the card) is grayed out here, since at least one tier must always remain.

    • Under Total Spend, enter the minimum and maximum dollar amounts that define this tier's price range (for example, $0 to $99999 for a tier covering all proposal amounts).

    • Under Plans (The primary plan is used to calculate monthly costs when presenting estimates to customers.), you'll see a table with Plan, Description, and APR columns. Until you add plans, it reads "There are no plans in this tier."

    • Click Add Plans to open the list of financing plans on your rate sheet, and select one or more to add to this tier.

    • Once plans are added, the tier's Cancel and Save buttons become active. Click Save to confirm the tier's plans, or Cancel to discard your changes to that tier.

  6. If you choose Use multiple spending tiers, click + Add Tier below the last tier card to add another tier, then repeat steps 5–7 for its Total Spend range and plans. Each tier's Total Spend range should pick up where the previous one leaves off, with no gaps or overlaps.

  7. When you're finished adding tiers and plans, click Save Rule at the bottom of the page (or Back to return to the previous step).

Edit a default rule

  1. On the Synchrony page, in the Rules section, find the Default Rule and click the Default Rule text.

Note: To ensure that there is at least one financing plan available for your technicians to show customers, you can't delete default rules. If you want to hide financing entirely from a specific business unit, use the "Exclude business units from financing" step in the account setup wizard.

  2. From Edit Financing Rule, edit as needed and review your changes.

  3. When you're done, click Save Rule.

Create custom rules

  1. On the Synchrony page, in the Rules section, click Add Rule.

    • Click Add on a Quick-start rules for your accounts card for the business-unit-specific account group you want to create a rule for (for example, HVAC-Install / HVAC Carrier 3).

  2. In Set Details, enter a name for your rule.

  3. Enter or select one or more business units to apply the rule to your selections.

  4. When you're finished selecting business units and operating states, click Next.

  5. The same Create Financing Rule wizard opens, scoped to the account group you chose (its Name appears as the page heading). Follow the same steps as Create a default rule above - Select Rule Set Up, then Select Plans (Total Spend range, Add Plans, Add Tier for each additional tier).

  6. Click Save Rule to finish.

Your custom rule appears in the Rules table, listing its name, business units, plan IDs (bare comma-separated list), and last-edited date.

Edit a custom rule

  1. On the Synchrony page, go to the Rules table and find the rule you want to edit and click on it’s name.

Tip: To delete the rule, click the Trash can icon.

  2. Edit as needed and review your changes.

  3. When you're done, click Save Rule.
