Overview
Using the Pricebook, you can track costs on physical materials like capacitors and filters. You can also create an entry for a generic material in the pricebook that doesn't reflect an actual, physical thing. This entry would serve as a placeholder that you can later use to account for miscellaneous costs, including:
Items not currently in the pricebook, such as permits
Labor costs performed by non-managed technicians, such as subcontractors. (For more information, see Generate actuals from labor.)
Unexpected costs generated while on the field
Who uses this feature
Administrators, office employees, managers, accountants, and bookkeepers
Applies to all business types

Add generic material to your pricebook
Add the material to your pricebook and consider the following when entering material details:
Categories: Enter a material category if you want technicians to have access to this material or cost on mobile.
Deduct as job cost: Select this box to deduct this material as a job cost.
Project labels: Assign a project label to this material if you want to organize and view your costs at the project level.

Add generic material to record miscellaneous cost
Add the generic material you created as an item on your purchase order to record your miscellaneous costs.
Edit the Unit Cost to reflect the actual cost you want to capture.
