Understanding the 'Required By' Field in a Purchase Order

Prev Next

Problem

You want to know what the "Required By" field in a Purchase Order (PO) is used for and if there is a report that can be used to search for that information.

Solution

  1. The Required By field is where you set the date when the PO is required.

Note: The Required By field will auto-populate with the same date in the Date Created field by default but can be edited to be a future date as needed.

  2. The Required By field can be used for expedited POs to set an expectation as to when that needs to be completed. The person who submitted or created the PO is the one stating if it needs to be completed by a certain date.

  3. To search for the Required By date, you can use the Purchase Order Line Items Report.

  4. In the report, you will see a column that provides the Required By date.

  5. You can sort the report by the Required By date by clicking on the column header.

  6. If you want to filter the report by a specific Required By date, click Filter and select the date range you want to search for.

  7. Once you have selected your filter criteria, click Apply to generate the report with the filtered results.
