How to increase estimate line item prices by percentage

Problem

You need to add a percentage increase to all line items on estimates.

Solution

• Use a price level modifier when you want a percentage increase only on service items and want to choose the increase for each line item.        

  Note: Client-specific rate sheets override dynamic pricing. If a rate sheet is applied, price levels will not take effect.

• Use a percentage fee when you want the increase to apply to all items including services, materials, and equipment, added once to the total estimate subtotal.

Use a price level modifier

Use this when you want the percentage applied through price levels for service items that use dynamic pricing.

1. Go to navigation bar and click Pricebook > Pricing Builder.

2. On the Dynamic Pricing screen that opens, click More> Edit to edit the existing rule, or create a new Dynamic Pricing rule.

3. Go to Review & Add Modifiers tab and select a Price Level modifier. 

4. Choose % from the modifier type dropdown.

5. In Level 2 enter the percentage and click Save.

6. Apply the price level to the estimate:        

   1. Add the service item to the estimate. The item will initially show its base (Level 1) price.

   2. Edit the estimate line item and change the item's Price Level to Level 2.

   3. Save the line item and the estimate.
      Example: A service item priced at $750 at Level 1, when changed to Level 2 with a 10% price level, becomes $750 × 1.10 = $825.

Use a percentage fee

Use this when you want the percentage to apply to every item on the estimate.

Step 1: Create the fee

1. Go to navigation bar and click Pricebook.

2. In the side menu, click Discounts & Fees.

3. In Discounts & Fees, click Add Discount or Fee.

4. Select Fee from the Type field.

5. Select Percentage from the Fee Type field, then enter the percentage you want to increase the estimate items by.

6. Save the fee.

Step 2: Add the fee to an estimate

1. Open the estimate you want to modify.

2. Click + Add Discount or Fee. 

3. Add the percentage fee item from the Pricebook to the estimate.

Note: The fee is calculated from the estimate subtotal and will apply to the whole estimate.
