# Deactivate serial number tracking

## Overview

Deactivate serial number tracking to remove serial numbers assigned to an item. You can deactivate serial number tracking for items you're not stocking or installing in a high volume or items that cost more to track than replace.

## Deactivate a serial number tracking

1. 2. From the side menu, select **Materials** or **Equipment**. For example, select **Equipment**.
3. On the *Equipment* page that opens, select the item for which you want to deactivate serialization.
4. 5. 6. Click the **Serial Number Tracking** card.
7. > **Note:** Once you deactivate serial number tracking, serial numbers are instantly removed from the material or equipment.
8. On the verification pop-up message, click **Deactivate**.
