Control access to Settings screens with granular permissions

Overview

The Granular Permissions feature lets you control which Settings screens your employees can access. Instead of all-or-nothing access, you can grant or restrict visibility screen by screen. This helps reduce risk while giving employees access only to what they need.

Things to know

  • This feature replaces the single Access Settings permission with granular child permissions.

  • When this feature is enabled, the Access Setting Permission section appears where you can grant access to individual Settings screens.

  • Turning off the master permission disables all child permissions.

  • Turning on the master permission allows selection of individual Settings screens.

  • Some screens are controlled by Access Settings main permissions, for example, Operations > Booking Sold Estimate, Operations > Document Management.

  • Some actions require both Access Settings and functional permissions, for example, Employees in Access Settings + Edit Employee/Technician in Payroll & Admin.

  • Some screens are still controlled by existing permissions in other sections.

  • Employees only see Settings screens they have permission to access.

Configure role permissions

Use this workflow to control which Settings screens a role can access.

  1. Go to the top toolbar and click Settings .

  2. In the side panel, go to Employees > People.

  3. Click Edit next to the role you want to update.

  4. Open the Permissions tab.

  5. Enable the Access settings toggle. Editing employee permissions with access settings and communication options displayed.

  6. Select the Settings screens this role should access, for example, Employees, Technicians, or Role Permissions.

  7. When finished, click Save Changes.        

    Note: Turning the parent toggle off disables all child permissions.

Verify employee access with the new permissions

  1. Ask the employee to log in with their ServiceTitan account.

  2. Open Settings .

  3. Confirm only permitted Settings screens are visible.

  4. Confirm restricted pages are hidden as expected.
