Add custom job type descriptions with Customize Job Type Descriptions to improve Voice Agent's Job Type matching accuracy

Prev Next

This improvement helps job booking accuracy by letting you add custom descriptions for each job type. This improvement is for Voice Agents for both basic phones and Phones Pro.

What's changing with customizable Job Type descriptions?

Before, job type names like "PDS-M" (plumbing demand service - member) could confuse the Voice Agent. Now, you can add a custom description to each job type. These descriptions train the Voice Agent to better understand your naming conventions and match job types more accurately when booking.

Before and After

Before (Current)

  1. Go to Settings > Job Types.

  2. Create or edit a job type.

  3. Enter a job type name (e.g., "PDS-M") with no additional detail.

  4. Save the job type.

Impact: The Voice Agent may misinterpret job type codes or abbreviations.

After

  1. Go to the Voice Agent Settings page.

  2. Edit a job type (e.g., "PDS-M") and add a detailed description (e.g., "Plumbing demand service for members").

  3. Save your changes.

Impact: The Voice Agent better understands job types and books jobs with more accuracy.

How it works for your industry

Residential Service and Replacement

  • A CSR receives a call for "PDS-M" and the Voice Agent now correctly links it to plumbing demand service for members using the new description.

  • You define "No Cool" as a description for your HVAC job type so the Voice Agent identifies it faster when booking.

  • A CSR adds descriptions like "Annual AC checkup" to improve matching on membership jobs.

Commercial Service and Replacement

  • A dispatcher adds a description to "COM-PLUMB" so the Voice Agent links it to commercial plumbing jobs.

  • Your HVAC team uses codes like "NC-M" (no cool member), and with new descriptions, the Voice Agent stops misbooking these jobs.

  • Job type "RTU-R" now includes a description for rooftop unit (RTU) repair, helping the Voice Agent book large commercial repairs accurately.

Residential Construction

  • The Voice Agent recognizes "RES-NEW" as residential new install after you define it clearly in the job type description.

  • A job code like "R-INST-PL" now books correctly because the Voice Agent reads the full description as rough-in plumbing install.

  • Job types used by subcontractors are easier to match after you enter project-specific descriptions.

Commercial Construction

  • Your job type "CONST-HVAC" now includes a description about HVAC installs for new commercial builds, helping the Voice Agent match jobs correctly.

  • When descriptions mention stages like "rough-in" or "final," the Voice Agent can guide callers more accurately.

  • Job types for tenant improvement projects are matched correctly after adding a detailed explanation.

How to Prepare

  1. Identify job types that use codes or abbreviations (e.g., "PDS-M").

  2. Review common booking errors linked to unclear job types.

  3. Write short, clear descriptions for each job type based on how they're used.

  4. Train CSRs on how these descriptions improve Voice Agent performance.
