Use this guide to resolve the QuickBooks export error 3170 Cannot merge list elements.

When exporting a batch to QuickBooks desktop from ServiceTitan, you may receive the following error message: “Error 3170 Cannot merge list elements."


  1. Check that the items match up in both QuickBooks and ServiceTitan.

  2. Make sure that the GL account is the same in both platforms.

  3. Add the ID of the item to the end of the item name in QuickBooks, separated by a space.

  4. Try exporting the batch again.

  5. If the export is successful but there is a new item without the numbers, merge the item with the numbers into the item without the numbers in QuickBooks.

  6. If the above steps do not solve the issue, contact ServiceTitan support for further assistance.
