Register your business units with ServiceTitan Payroll Pro. Our payroll partner uses this information to calculate the appropriate state taxes for your employees based on the business unit they’re assigned to.


Things to know

  • State income taxes are calculated based on the location of the business unit (BU) an employee is assigned to.

  • The Business Unit field of the office employee profile is not used for payroll purposes. Instead, assign a payroll business unit by editing an office employee’s profile. In the Payroll tab, use the Payroll Business Unit dropdown to assign a payroll BU.

  • Register all BUs that have payrolled employees assigned to them.

  • Before you start, make sure you have the addresses of your BUs available.


Register business units

If you didn’t complete mapping your earnings codes with your payroll implementation specialist, don’t worry. It’s a simple process:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and clickSettings icon-settings.png. In the side panel, go to People>Payroll.Payroll Settings opens.

  2. Under Payroll Pro, in the Payroll Pro Configuration section, click Edit.

  3. In the Register Business Units section, click Start.

    Register Business Units opens listing all your BUs in a table.

  4. Check to make sure the addresses of all BUs you’re registering are correct. To edit a BU:

    1. Click the View Mode dropdown and select Edit Mode.

    2. Click the field you want to edit. The edit pop-up opens.

    3. Make any necessary changes to the BU details.

    4. When you’re finished, click Save.

    Note: Changes made on the Register Business Units screen are reflected in the BU record at Settings>Operations>Business Units.

  5. Select the BUs you want to register with Payroll Pro.

  6. When you’re finished selecting BUs, click Register Selected.

Note: To make changes to your BUs or to register additional BUs, go to Settings>People>Payroll>Payroll Pro>Register Business Units and click Edit.
