Set individual invoice items as taxableLast updated on 03/22/2022

Set individual invoice items as Taxable or Non-Taxable. By setting the appropriate tax status, ServiceTitan will know which items to include or exclude in the tax calculations. Office employees and technicians can change the tax status on particular invoice items, which will override the default tax status you have set up in your pricebook. You can easily identify taxable and non-taxable invoice items.

Set tax status by invoice item permission

After your account is configured, you need to set permissions for office employees and technicians.

To set permissions for office employees:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Settingsicon-settings.png. In the side panel, click People > Employees.

  2. Click the Edit next to the employee name you want to edit permissions.

  3. Click the Permissions tab.

  4. Select Set Tax Status By Invoice Item.

  5. When you're done, click Save.

To set permissions for technicians:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Settingsicon-settings.png. In the side panel, click People > Technicians.

  2. Click the Edit for the technician you want to update the permissions for.

  3. Click the Permissions tab.

  4. Select Set Tax Status By Invoice Item.

  5. When you're done, click Save.

Set invoice line items as taxable

  1. Go to the invoice you want to make taxable.

  2. In the side menu, click Add a task. Note: The task defaults to the tax setting you have in your pricebook.

  3. Select Taxable.

  4. When you are finished, click Save.

You can now see the items on the invoice with a column specifying whether each item is taxable or not.
