Inventory item transfer workflowLast updated on 09/13/2022

Use item transfer workflow to move inventory items between two different inventory locations.


Pick an item

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory Inventory-icon.

  2. From the side menu, select Transfers. The Transfers page opens.

  3. In the Pending tab, select the item you want to pick up. Note: You can pick items both individually and in bulk.

  4. Click Pick Items. Make sure to review the transfer before picking it up. You can review the transfer by clicking on it.


Return picked transfers to pending status

You might need to return a picked transfer back to pending status if:

  • The job is canceled or put on hold.

  • The technician doesn’t need the items anymore.

To change the status of picked items back to pending:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory Inventory-icon.

  2. From the side menu, select Transfers. The Transfers page opens.

  3. Click the Picked tab, then click the transfer you want to return to pending status. The transfer record opens.

  4. From the Actions dropdown, select Return to Pending.


Receive items

Once the transfer is in Picked status, it is ready to be received.

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory Inventory-icon.

  2. From the side menu, select Transfers. The Transfers page opens.

  3. Click the Picked tab.

  4. Select the item you want to receive. Note: You can pick items individually or in bulk for your inventory location.

  5. Click Receive Items. Make sure to review the transfer before receiving it. You can review the transfer by clicking on it.

Note: If you have an accounting integration, you can find the batch number and export status on the received transfer.


Return received transfers to picked status

You can return a received transfer back to its Picked status:

  • If a job is canceled and you don’t need the items anymore.

  • If a job is delayed and you don’t need to carry the items anymore.

  • You don’t need those items in your truck anymore.

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory Inventory-icon.

  2. From the side menu, select Transfers. The Transfers page opens.

  3. Click the Received tab, then click the transfer you want to return to Picked status. The transfer record opens.

  4. From the Actions dropdown, select Return to Picked.


Consume item as part of a transfer

Note: When Consume Item on Transfer to Truck is toggled on for an item, ServiceTitan creates both a transfer and an adjustment as part of the adjustment creation process. For more information, see Adjustments.

You can consume an item at the same time as the transfer. To automatically consume items at the Truck Inventory Location:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook image7.

  2. From the side menu, select Materials.

  3. On the Materials page that opens, select the material you want to consume.

  4. From the Actions dropdown field, select View/Edit Material.

  5. On the Edit Material page that opens, click the Inventory Settings tab.

  6. Activate the Consume Item on Transfer to Truck toggle.

  7. When you’re finished, click Save.
