Manage custom dashboard filtersLast updated on 03/22/2022

With custom filters, you can set filters for multiple custom dashboard modules at once, simplifying how you filter your dashboard metrics.

Things to know

  • The dashboard date and business unit (BU) filters apply to all modules by default.

  • To filter a module manually on the dashboard, deselect it from custom filtering.

  • To edit dashboard modules, make sure you have the correct dashboard permissions enabled. Contact your account administrator for help.

Open the dashboard editor

You can manage custom filters while in the dashboard editor. To open the editor:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Dashboard.

  2. Click the Modular Dashboard dropdown and select the custom dashboard you want to edit.

  3. Click Edit Dashboard.

The dashboard editor opens. From here, you can manage, create, and set defaults for custom filters.

  2. Click the Custom Filters dropdown and select Manage Custom Filters.

    Manage Custom Filters opens.

  3. Click Expandicon-carat-inverted.png for a filter to view which modules the filter applies to.

Each list item shows the filter type and the name of the module.

  4. Select or deselect a module to include it with or exclude it from the custom filter.

  5. Repeat the previous two steps for any other custom filters or, if you’re finished, click Save.Manage Custom Filters closes.

Create a custom filter

If you have dashboard modules that you want to filter separately, you can create a custom filter. For example, if you have two modules that use Job Date filters, you can create a single custom filter that applies to both modules.

Note: A module filter type can only be used with one custom filter at a time. For example, if you want to create a custom filter that shows weekly numbers for some modules, deselect the modules you want to use for that filter from the Dates filter. Then, create a new filter for those modules. You can set default filter values for the new filter to show metrics for the past seven days.

To create a custom filter:

  1. Open the dashboard editor for the custom dashboard you want to manage filters for.

  2. Click the Custom Filters dropdown and select Manage Custom Filters.

    Manage Custom Filters opens.

  3. Click Add New.

  4. Click Edit icon-pencil.png for the filter, enter a name, and click Save icon-check.png.

  5. Click the Select Filters to Combine dropdown and select the modules you want to include in the filter.

Tip: Click Delete icon-trash.png for a filter to remove it from the list.

  6. When you’re finished, click Save.Manage Custom Filters closes.

  7. In the dashboard editor, click Save.

Apply custom filters

When you create a custom filter, a Custom Filters link appears at the top of the dashboard. To apply a custom filter:

  1. From the dashboard, click Custom Filters.

    Custom Filters opens.

  2. For the custom filter you want to apply, select how you want to apply the filter.

Note: Filtering options depend on the filter type.

  3. Click Save.

The custom filter selection appears at the top of the dashboard.

Set default filter values

When you open a custom dashboard, by default, it filters for all business units for the current day. You can edit the default values for custom filters. For example, you can set a custom filter to show a week’s worth of KPIs while another filter shows KPIs for today’s date.

To set default filter values:

  1. Open the dashboard editor for the custom dashboard you want to manage filters for.

  2. Click the Custom Filters dropdown and select Set Default Values.Default Custom Filters opens.

  3. Edit the filters you want to set default values for.

Note: Default options depend on the filter type.

  4. When you’re finished, click Save.Default Custom Filters closes.

  5. In the dashboard editor, click Save.
