Create and edit estimate templatesLast updated on 03/22/2022

Create estimate templates for commonly performed jobs. This allows your technicians to sell estimates with all the necessary items pre-added. You can include multiple estimate templates on proposal templates so you can offer your customers good/better/best options with a few taps in ServiceTitan Mobile.

Things to know

  • Material items attached to service or equipment items are automatically added to estimate templates. They are uneditable and can only be removed by removing the linked service or equipment item.

  • As you add items to an estimate template, the total cost and subtotal update automatically.

  • Dynamic estimate templates change when you edit your pricebook. Static estimate templates do not update when you update your pricebook. If prices increase in your pricebook, the static estimate template price is unaffected.

Create an estimate template

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook. In the side menu, click Templates. Your template library opens.

  2. Click the Create dropdown and select Estimate template.

  3. In the Internal Name field of the Create Estimate Template pop-up, enter a name for your template as you want it to appear within ServiceTitan. This name is not visible to customers.

  4. In the Estimate Template Name field, enter the name of the estimate as it appears when presented to customers.

  5. Enter any additional details in the Summary field, or skip to the next step.

  6. Under Estimate Template Type, select how you want items on the estimate template to be updated:

    • Dynamic—When you update your pricebook, any corresponding items on the template are automatically updated, including prices. Most item fields on the estimate are not editable.

    • Static—When you update your pricebook, any corresponding items on the template are not updated. You can update them manually. Most fields are editable.

  7. When you’re done, click Continue to edit the estimate template.

Edit an estimate template

When you create or view an estimate template, you can edit it:

  1. To add items to the template:

    1. Click Add Service, Add Equipment, or Add Material.

    2. Use the search field to find the pricebook item you want to add. You can search by item code, name, or description.

    3. Click the item to add it to the template.

  2. Click the Trash icon for an item to remove it.

  3. Adjust the quantity of an item by editing the QTY field.

Note: The quantities of attached material items automatically adjust.

  4. Click the Is Add on? toggle to apply the item’s add-on price to the template.

  5. To edit an item:

    1. Hover over the item name and click the Open to view/edit full details icon.

    2. In the pop-up, edit the item fields as needed. Note: If you’re editing a dynamic estimate template, most fields are greyed out and uneditable.

    3. When you’re done click Save. Note: Editing an item does not affect the item details in your pricebook. Only the estimate template is affected.

  6. To change the order of items on the estimate template:

    1. At the bottom of the template, click Advanced Ordering.

    2. Click the arrows to move items up or down on the estimate.

    3. When you’re done, click Save Order.

  7. When you’re done adding and editing items, click Save Template.

Manage estimate templates

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook. In the side menu, click Templates. Your template library opens. The Estimate Templates tab shows a table of your estimate templates.

  2. To sort the table:

    • Click a column name to sort the table.

    • Click the Filter icon for a column to add a filter to the column.

  3. To manage an estimate template, click More ⠇ and select an item from the menu:

    • View/Edit Details—Open and edit the estimate template details

    • Duplicate—Create a copy of the estimate template

    • Deactivate—Remove the template from any proposal templates it was added to

Note: Use the menu to reactivate a deactivated template. When you reactivate an estimate template, it’s automatically re-added to any proposal templates it was previously added to.
